摘要： There is provided a method of forming a multi-layer self-sealing graft, in which the method comprises providing a tubular structure located within a cavity suitable for injection moulding, introducing a thermoplastic elastomer in liquid form into a gap located between the tubular structure and the cavity and allowing the thermoplastic elastomer to solidify. Additionally, an outer layer is located on top of the thermoplastic elastomer to give a sandwich construction. The tubular structure is preferably formed from ePTFE and the thermoplastic elastomer is preferably polyurethane or a styrene block copolymer.

摘要： There is provided an endovascular device useful for supporting and repairing portions of a blood vessel. The device comprises a first tubular graft layer (2) having a stent element (3) located therearound and a second graft layer (1) which covers at least part of the stent element. The first and second graft layers are securely attached together at attachment sites (5) to prevent relative movement of the stent element with respect to the graft layers. The attachment sites between the first and second graft layers are formed by laser welding wherein a near-infrared absorbing dye is applied either to the outer surface of the first tubular graft layer or to the inner surface of the second graft layer, or to both layers. The areas having dye applied are then irradiated with energy to create a laser weld.

摘要： There is described a synthetic aortic conduit formed from two tubular porous layers having a non-bioresorbable sealant, such as SEPs, interposed therebetween. The synthetic aortic conduit can be attached to an aortic valve, such as a xenograft valve, to form an aortic root replacement prosthesis. The synthetic aortic conduit has the advantage that it can be stored in the preservative solutions required for tissue valves without degradation.

摘要： A crimping tool is provided, where the tool comprises a mandrel (1) having a first portion (3) with a first outer diameter, and a second portion (5) with a second outer diameter which is greater than the first outer diameter. A chamfered abutment face (7) is provided between the first and second portions (3,5). At least one first collar (9) is mountable on the first portion (3) of the mandrel (5) and has a chamfered first end (11) which in use abuts the abutment face (7). At least one second collar (13) is mountable on the second portion (5) of the mandrel (1) and has a chamfered second end (15) which in use abuts the first end (11) of the first collar (9). A method of using the tool to form one or more crimps in a piece of fabric is also disclosed.
