摘要： The present invention is directed to methods and systems for taking measurements relating to subterranean formations. The methods and systems effectively compress data and thus facilitate more efficient data transmission. The methods and systems are capable of automatically varying data compression rates during a measurement operation. The variable data compression capability facilitates reliable collection of measurement data at faster and/or constant logging speeds. The data compression methods and systems may be applied to any measurement operation relating to subterranean formations, including, but not limited to : acoustic wireline logging measurements, acoustic logging-while-drilling measurements, electromagnetic measurements, nuclear magnetic resonance measurements, and resistivity measurements.

摘要： A computer-implemented method of estimating mechanical properties and stresses of rocks around a borehole (300, 400). In situ stresses and dynamic and static moduli of a rock are jointly inferred from acoustic radial profiles (3500) measured with a borehole sonic tool. Inversion is performed on equations that govern the near-borehole distributions of the compressional wave slowness, the fast shear wave slowness, the slow shear wave slowness, and the shear wave modulus in the plane perpendicular to the borehole axis for in situ stresses, the dynamic shear modulus, the dynamic Lamé parameter, l, the static drained Young's modulus, and the static drained Poisson's ratio (3502). Third-order nonlinear dynamic moduli are also inferred by the procedure (3400). Material properties are retrieved in an isotropically stressed reference state (3304). The input data used by the inversion is appropriately prescribed (3302). Methods for constraining the solution in the event of noisy or limited data are demonstrated (3306).

摘要： Sonic logging data including a sonic waveform associated with a plurality of shot gathers is accessed. A transformation operator is applied to the sonic logging data to provide a transformed sonic image, the transformation operator including at least one of a short time average long time average (STA/LTA) operator, a phase shift operator, and a deconvolution operator. A machine learning process is performed using the transformed sonic image to determine a sonic slowness associated with the sonic logging data. The sonic slowness is provided as an output.
