    • The device according to the invention for providing a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) comprises a handle (1) for handling the device. The wire that is to be inserted into the stomach of the patient is rolled on a wire spool (3) that is mounted either in a rotatable manner on the handle part or on an attachment piece that can be attached to the handle. Aside from the puncturing cannula (4) for puncturing the stomach, the device according to the invention comprises an inserting cannula (6) for inserting the wire rolled on the wire spool into the stomach. The device according to the invention is characterized in that the puncturing cannula (4) is designed as an outer cannula surrounding the inserting cannula (6), while the inserting cannula (6) is designed as an inner cannula surrounded by the puncturing cannula (4), wherein the inserting cannula is guided in the puncturing cannula in a longitudinally displaceable manner. During the puncture of the stomach, the inserting cannula is recessed into the puncturing cannula. The design of the inserting cannula as an inner cannula and the puncturing cannula as an outer cannula provides the advantage that the puncture can be carried out only with the puncturing cannula. The design problem of an even transition between an inserting cannula as an outer cannula and a puncturing cannula as an inner cannula is solved by the device according to the invention. Moreover, puncturing and inserting cannulas made of steel can be produced with a comparable low technical effort and relatively low costs in great numbers without the need for both cannulas to be formed to each other for achieving a smooth transition.

    • A needle shield is removably mountable to a syringe to protect a user from inadvertent needle pricks and limit contamination of a needle of the syringe. The needle shield includes a plug having an external surface and a shell having an inner surface defining a cavity therein. The plug is positioned within the cavity and a portion of the external surface of the plug is in contact with the inner surface of the shell at a contact area. The plug is non-removably bonded to the shell in the contact area by melting a portion of the shell and the plug in the contact area through application of radiation energy. A securing ring may alternatively be fixed to the shell through the application of radiation energy to secure a shoulder of the plug between the ring and a rib of the shell. The radiation energy is preferably applied by laser welding.
