摘要： Fluid property modeling that employs a model that characterizes asphaltene concentration gradients is integrated into a reservoir modeling and simulation framework to allow for reservoir compartmentalization (the presence or absence of flow barrier in the reservoir) to be assessed more quickly and easily. Additionally, automated integration of the fluid property modeling into the reservoir modeling and simulation framework allows the compositional gradients produced by the fluid property modeler (particularly asphaltene concentration gradients) to be combined with other data, such as geologic data and other petrophysical data, which allows for more accurate assessment of reservoir compartmentalization.

摘要： Computer-implemented systems and methods are provided for an upscaling approach based on dynamic simulation of a given model. A system and method can be configured such that the accuracy of the upscaled model is continuously monitored via indirect error measures. If the indirect error measures are bigger than a specified tolerance, the upscaled model is dynamically updated with approximate fine-scale information that is reconstructed by a multi-scale finite volume method. Upscaling of multi-phase flow can include flow information in the underlying fine-scale. Adaptive prolongation and restriction operators are applied for flow and transport equations in constructing an approximate fine-scale solution.

摘要： A multi- scale finite- volume (MSFV) method simulates nonlinear immiscible three- phase compressible flow in the presence of gravity and capillary forces. Consistent with the MSFV framework, flow and transport are treated separately and differently using a fully implicit sequential algorithm. The pressure field is solved using an operator splitting algorithm. The general solution of the pressur is decomposed into an elliptic part, a buoyancy/ capillary force dominant part, an an inhomogeneous part with source/sink and accumulation. A MSFV method is used to compute the basis functions of the elliptic component, capturing long range interactions in the pressure field. Direct construction of the velocity field and solution of the transport problem on the primal coarse grid provides flexibility in accommodating physical mechanisms. A MSFV method (300) computes an approximate pressure field, including a solution of a course-scale pressure equation (320); constructs fine-scale fluxes (330); and computes a phase -transport equation (340)

摘要： A method of performing Field Management is disclosed, a Field Management system including a portable Field Management (FM) framework being initially decoupled from any simulators, one or more adaptors operatively connected to the FM framework, and one or more open interfaces associated, respectively, with the one or more adaptors, the open interfaces each having interface characteristics, the method comprising: modifying one or more of the simulators such that the simulators adhere to the interface characteristics of the open interfaces of the one or more adaptors which are operatively connected to the FM framework; subsequently coupling the one or more modified simulators to the one or more open interfaces of the one or more adaptors of the FM framework in response to the modifying step; and performing the Field Management on the condition that the one or more modified simulators are coupled to the one or more open interfaces of the one or more adaptors of the FM framework. The FM framework is also flexible in that it allows control over how the FM Framework logic is executed in order to accommodate real field situations that require such control. The FM Framework flexibility is demonstrated through control of the frequency at which the balancing action is executed, a use by the FM framework of a set of expressions, and a use by the FM framework of dynamic lists of flow entities. The FM framework is also extensible which is characterized by a use by the FM framework of custom variables and custom actions and custom strategies.

摘要： A method, system and computer program product are disclosed for simulating fluid flow in a fractured subterranean reservoir. A reservoir model representative of a fractured subterranean reservoir is provided. The reservoir model includes porous matrix control volumes and a network of fractures, which define fracture control volumes, overlying the porous matrix control volumes. A system of equations based on scale separation is constructed for fluid flow in the porous matrix control volumes and the fracture control volumes. The system of equations can include fracture equations having a pressure vector for each network of fractures that is split into an average pressure value and remainder pressure value. The system of equations based on scale separation is sequentially solved, such as by using an iterative Multi-Scale Finite Volume (MSFV) method.
