    • Arrangements of solid state light sources for color-mixing, and light sources including the same, are provided. A substrate has and a plurality of different color LED chips (314, 316) coupled thereto. The emitted light is mixed to produce a white light output. The LED chips are arranged on the substrate in a manner that improves color-mixing, for example, by forming LED sets including one or more LED chips of different colors, by skewing the LED chips, and/or by forming a non-rectangular array or a circular array of LED sets and/or chips. The color-mixing LED arrangement may be used in a lamp or other light source together with collimating optics to collimate and further mix the color-mixed light output from the LED arrangement. The color-mixing LED arrangement may be provided as a single package with multiple LED chips or as multiple packages of one or more LED chips.

    • Rotary lobe pump and circumferential piston pump designs are disclosed where the drive and driven shafts are detachably connected to their respective rotors. The rotors are disposed in a pump or rotor casing, which is sandwiched between a head cover and a gearbox. The drive and driven shafts pass through mechanical seal assemblies, which are sandwiched between the first and second rotors and the gear box respectively. The seal assemblies can be serviced or replaced by simply removing the head cover and removing the rotors from the drive and driven shafts. The pump casing does not need to be removed to replace or service the seal assemblies. Further, the capacities of the disclosed rotary lobe and circumferential piston pumps can be modified without changing the gearboxes or shaft length. To modify a pump capacity, all that needs to be changed are the rotors, the pump or rotor casing and, in some designs, the head cover or cover plate. In some designs, the cover plate is universal to the gearbox so that only the rotors and pump casing need to be changed to modify the pump capacity.

    • Methods and apparatus are provided for an analog converter (60). The apparatus comprises a first redundant signed digit (RSD) stage (62) and a configurable block (61). The configurable block (61) converts to a sample/hold circuit to sample a single ended analog signal. The sampled signal is then scaled, converted to a differential signal and provided to the first RSD stage (62). The first RSD stage (62) outputs a bit value corresponding to the magnitude of the digital signal. In a next half clock cycle the first RSD stage (62) calculates a residue that is provided to the configurable block (61). The configurable block (61) is converted to a second redundant signed digit stage and generates a bit value corresponding to the magnitude of the residue provided by the first RSD stage. The first and second RSD stages cycle back and forth generating logic value each half clock cycle until the desired bit resolution is achieved. The configurable block (61) is then converted back to a sample/hold circuit to start another conversion process.
