    • Device for correcting the geometry of the image created on the screen of a cathode-ray tube, comprising a first set of four coils arranged in series one with the other, coiled on a magnetic core, the said coils being traversed by at least a portion of the horizontal deflection current, at least one permanent magnet intended to apply to the core a magnetic field oriented in one direction for one of the pairs of coils and in the opposite direction for the second pair, and a second set of two coils in series one with the other and arranged around the magnetic core so as to contain the magnetic fluxes created by the first set of coils, the two coils being traversed by at least part of the vertical deflection current and arranged so as to create, in the magnetic core, magnetic fluxes oriented in one direction in one of the pairs of coils of the first set and in the opposite direction in the second pair of the first set. The device makes it possible to correct both the horizontal and vertical geometrical defects.

    • Linearity correction apparatus for a raster scanned cathode ray tube display device is presented. The apparatus comprises first means (16) for generating a correction signal to correct an asymmetric non linearity in a sawtooth electron beam line deflection current. The line deflection current is generated by a line timebase circuit for energising electromagnetic electron beam deflection coils of the cathode ray tube. The apparatus further comprises second means (70,90,91) cooperative with the first means (16) and responsive to a change in line timebase frequency for compensating a variation in the correction signal generated by the first means (16) in response to said change in line timebase frequency.

    • A scanning CRT control system is disclosed in which horizontal sync pulses are used to develop a pulse signal that provides an input to a transformer circuit also receiving a relatively low DC power supply input signal. The transformer circuit develops a very high DC voltage connected to a CRT screen while also providing a relatively lower voltage power supply signal that is utilized to develop the power supply signal provided to a video driver that controls beam excitation for the CRT. A compensation circuit is provided between the transformer circuit and a power supply terminal of the video driver such that a compensating signal is provided at the transformer circuit in accordance with each horizontal video scan line. The compensating signal has a frequency corresponding to the horizontal sweep frequency and a magnitude that varies in accordance with the average current loading of each individual horizontal scan line. In this manner the compensating signal will cause a variation in horizontal beam positioning so as to maintain horizontal orientation between different sequential horizontal scan lines regardless of the average beam current intensity of each of the horizontal scan lines. Preferably, the compensation circuit comprises a parallel resistor and capacitor connected in series between an output terminal of the transformer and the power supply terminal of the video driver.

    • A television kinescope deflection circuit having improved linearity includes a deflection winding coupled in series with a first capacitor. A deflection switch and retrace capacitor are coupled across the serial combination of the deflection winding and first capacitor. The first capacitor responds to the deflection current to form a linearizing signal which modifies the flow of deflection current to provide S-correction. The linearity correction is improved by a series-resonant circuit coupled in parallel with the first capacitor and tuned to the second harmonic of the deflection frequency.

    • In a television receiver, a saturable transformer has three windings, one being in series with a horizontal deflection coil to introduce a parabolic reactance variation to correct for side pincushion distortion. An adjustable correction circuit includes a transistor integrator for producing in another winding of the saturable transformer a vertical parabolic current. The last winding of the saturable transformer is coupled through a pair of switching diodes to a pair of variable inductors. The diodes conduct alternately at the beginning and end of the vertical scanning period. The variable inductors may be mounted coaxially with a common movable core to allow inverse side correction, or may be mounted separately with separate movable cores to allow independent side correction.
