    • An operating mechanism for a centrifugal switch contains at least: a terminal box, a cover, a movable contact, a static contact, a swing arm, a reset elastic part, and a shifting fork. The movable contact and the static contact are disposed in the terminal box. The shifting fork operates to drive the swing arm to horizontally swing, whereby pushing the movable contact and implementing connection and disconnection between the movable contact and the static contact. The reset elastic part operates to automatically reset the shifting fork and the swing arm. The invention features reduced requirements for dimensional precision and installation precision of components, and low production cost, and is reliable and durable. In addition, the sliding force is uniformly stressed, which ensures accuracy of operation, easy installation, and high operating reliability.

    • The present invention is directed to a false activation reducing centrifugal activation system. The system is an activation system that may be used to activate a wide variety of functionalities in a wide variety of devices. The functional elements to the system are a device housing, a power supply module, and one or more activation modules that are activated by a particular motion of the housing, such as when the device housing is able to at least partially spin or rotate about one or more axis' of rotation. The disclosed activation modules include a centrifugally activated electronic system that allows a device's functionality to be turned on or off by moving the device's housing in a particular fashion. In this way, a device equipped with the disclosed centrifugally activated electronic system does not need to have a manual ON/OFF switch or fragile mechanical switch. Instead, the disclosed system allows one or more of a device's functionalities to be activated (or de-activated) when the device's housing moves in the proper manner, while reducing unwanted activations that would be caused by slight and/or unintentional movement. Any sort of promotional product may be equipped with the disclosed false activation reducing centrifugal activation system, including, but not limited to, toys for children, pet toys, novelty devices, and corporate giveaways.

    • A switch lever for use with a centrifugal starting switch of an electric motor. The starting switch has at least one switch contact which is moveable, in response to axial movement of a centrifugal actuator, between a start position in which a starting winding of the motor is energized and a run position in which the starting winding is de-energized. The switch lever of the present invention operatively connects the switch contact with the centrifugal actuator for movement in response thereto. The switch lever has a cam follower at one end which is engageable with an annular actuator collar of the centrifugal actuator. The cam follower includes a contoured rear cam face which prevents the cam follower from becoming "stuck" behind a flat rear surface of the actuator collar during assembly or operation of the motor.

    • A governor and motor assembly of a fractional horsepower electric motor adapted to control the efficient operation of the motor utilizing simple structural components. The governor is responsive to the centrifugal forces of the rotating rotor shaft of the motor and is attached to the end thereof. The governor includes a carrier plate affixed to the shaft and a pivotable lever mounted within a groove in the carrier plate. A first end of the pivotable lever is connected to the carrier plate by an extension spring which acts to move the lever to its at rest or actuated position. As a predetermined rotational velocity is reached, the lever pivots at the groove to pivot away from the electrical switch aligned axially with the rotor shaft. The electrical switch, in turn, is mounted to a terminal board fixedly mounted to the motor housing to thereby positionally maintain the governor on the motor shaft as well as retain the associated capacitor. In this manner, a minimum of mounting hardware is needed to assemble the governor and control components. The motor housing is provided with indirect venting to prevent fluid splash from damaging the internal components of the motor.

    • A switch assembly for use with a centrifugal actuator in the start winding circuit of a dynamoelectric machine (1). The switch has a pair of electrical contacts (29, 33) contained in a pliable, bellows-like enclosure (37) for protection from foreign matter. The assembly includes a terminal board (19) having an electrically conductive post (28) mounted thereon and comprising one side of the switch. A second contact, comprising the other side of the switch, is directly above the first and is surrounded by an electrically conductive cap (32). The cap is affixed between the ends of an electrically conductive, cantilevered switch arm (16) which is biased against a vertically rigid, horizontally adjustable stop (45). The stop has one end rigidly mounted to the terminal board and its other end above and in contact with the switch arm where the cap is affixed to the arm. The bias is caused by the switch arm support structure at the fixed end being attached to the terminal board at an angle. Moving the end of the stop contacting the arm toward the support structure, decreases the gap between the switch contacts, while moving the end of the stop towards the free end of the switch arm increases the gap.

    • The distributor of the present invention includes a housing having condenser and points therein and having a rotor adapted to actuate the points for producing intermittent pulses of current at an outlet connector. A dielectric disk is attached to the rotor and is adapted to rotate in unison therewith. A gasket provides a physical barrier between the conductive sheet which is above the gasket and the rotor, condenser and points which are below the gasket. A cap is mounted over the distributor housing and includes a pair of contact points which are adapted to be electrically connected one at a time to the conductive sheet on the disk during rotation of the disk. The two contact points on the cap include leads which lead to the sparkplugs of the engine. A single discharge coil includes a discharge post which is connected to a brush within the distributor cap. The brush extends downwardly through the cap and is in electrical connection with the conductive sheet at all times during rotation of the conductive sheet. The discharge coil also includes an input connection which is connected to the output of the distributor for receiving pulses of electricity therefrom.
