摘要： A near field transducer (NFT) is formed between a waveguide and main pole at an air bearing surface (ABS). The NFT includes a rod-like front portion (PG1) and a substantially triangular shaped back portion (PG2) with a dielectric separation layer therebetween. PG1 is formed on a first dielectric layer with thickness t1 and refractive index (RI1) while PG2 is on a second dielectric layer with thickness t2 and having refractive index (RI2) where t1>t2, and RI1>RI2 while PG1 has a tapered backside at angle 45+15 degrees to promote efficient energy transfer from PG2 to PG1 and reduce NFT heating. A dielectric layer that induces poor adhesion with PG1 may be inserted between below PG1 at the ABS to cause Au recession to occur at the PG1 leading side thereby preventing voids at the PG1 trailing side and ensuring good ADC performance.

The bonding layers may include diffusion layers or dielectric bonding layers. The method further comprises flipping and joining the carrier wafer with the target substrate such that the first and second diffusion layers are bonded and the single-crystal-like metal layer is integrated with the recording head as a near-field transducer.

The HAMR write apparatus includes a pole, coil(s), a near-field transducer (NFT), and a dielectric gap. The pole writes to the media. The coil(s) energize the pole. The waveguide is optically coupled with the laser and directs energy toward the ABS. The NFT is optically coupled with the waveguide and includes a metal nose and a metal cap. Part of the metal cap adjoins part of the main pole. The dielectric gap is between a first portion of the NFT and the main pole. The dielectric gap has a media-facing surface and back, top, bottom and side surfaces. The top surface adjoins the main pole. The bottom surface adjoins the first portion of the NFT. The side surfaces adjoin a second portion of the NFT. The back surface adjoins a portion of the metal cap.

The first side and the second side diverging such that at least a portion of the inverse tapered waveguide between the bottom and the top is wider than the entrance.

摘要： A method involves forming a metal layer on a metal seed layer, the metal seed layer formed on a carrier wafer. A surface of the metal layer defines a first metal bonding layer. A second metal bonding layer is provided on a target substrate having recording head subassemblies. Mating surfaces of the first and second metal bonding layers are activated and the carrier wafer is flipped and joined with the target substrate such that the first and second metal bonding layers are bonded and the metal layer is integrated with the recording head as a near-field transducer.
