    • A control device is provided configured to provide user control signals. The control device comprises a magnetic flux sensing unit configured to provide two-dimensional angular orientation information with respect to a magnetic field acting on the magnetic flux sensing unit, and the user control signals are dependent on the two-dimensional angular orientation information. The control device further comprises a magnet arrangement comprising at least two permanent magnets configured to generate the magnetic field. The magnet arrangement and the magnetic flux sensing unit are arranged to be reoriented relative to one another within a predetermined range of movement, and the at least two permanent magnets are arranged relative to the magnetic flux sensing unit such that the magnetic field experienced by the magnetic flux sensing unit is substantially uniform throughout the predetermined range of movement.

    • It is proposed that a real or virtual slave system with p degrees of freedom is controlled by means of a manual control member comprising a handle (10) formed by an active part (12) and one or two information return parts (14). A speed or displacement transducer or sensor (24) can be mounted in the active part (12) in order to produce signals used for controlling the slave system. Actuators, e.g. fitted in a support connected to the handle (10) by a flexible cord (22), receive informations from the slave system and transform them into a torque. This torque is transmitted to the information return part (14), e.g. by cables (30,34), so that a stress or force representative of the information from the slave system is applied to the hand of the operator.

    • A traction control system includes a control rod connected to a throttle lever and being slidable with respect to a housing to which an accelerator pedal is connected. The control rod is movable in response to a driving wheel acceleration slip signal so as to return the throttle lever. A control device controls the movement of the control rod. A set spring acts between the control rod and the housing. The set spring has such a spring force that the set spring is not compressed by the pressing-down of the accelerator pedal in the absence of the driving wheel acceleration slip signal, so that the control rod can be moved together with the housing. The spring force of the set spring is such that during the above movement of the control rod, the set spring is compressed when the accelerator pedal is strongly pressed down.

    • A bicycle derailleur gear shifting system having a rotatable handgrip actuator cam which is coupled with the derailleur shifting mechanism through a control cable system so as to control the derailleur mechanism. Separate actuator cams are associated with the front and rear derailleurs. For the down-shifting direction, at least the rear derailleur cam is configured so as to substantially compensate for increasing force of the derailleur return spring; so as to substantially compensate for numerous cumulative lost motions in the derailleur shifting mechanism and cable system, and for chain gap variations; and so as to overshift the chain a sufficient amount beyond the destination freewheel sprocket so that the chain will approach the destination sprocket in the same direction as it would in the up-shift direction, but not sufficient to cause a double shift, or derailling from the #1 sprocket. A front derailleur cam is configured to provide fine-tuning for "cross-over" riding.

    • The invention relates to a mechanism for selectively converting a continuous rotary movement in apparatus such as a high-speed-printing machine to a phase-related single pivoting movement of a control lever, with that single control movement following by an immediate reset to the initial position regardless of the time of activation of the mechanism. An entrainment lever supported on a supporting pin is coupled by means such as an excentric drive to the continuous rotary movement of the machine to generate a continuous pitching movement. A control lever is mounted for rotation on the same support pin and mounts a bistable mechanism (tensioning lever, pawl 3, tensioning spring 21) which in its first stable condition allows the entrainment lever to oscillate freely and which can assume its second stable condition when entrainment lever is in a dead center position, causing an engagement surface to be offered to the entrainment lever with the range of its pivoting movement. Control lever is spring-biased towards entrainment lever by return spring, and the control movement of control lever causes said bistable mechanism to be reset to its first stable condition by means of a reset lever.
