    • A lens system is disclosed that can be used in either a normal sharp-focus configuration or in any of several soft-focus configurations for obtaining, for example, sharply focused or soft-focus photographic images of an object. The lens system has simple construction and axially comprises, in the normal sharp-focus configuration and from the object side, a first lens group having positive refractive power, an aperture stop, and a rear lens group having negative refractive power. To obtain a sharp-focus image, light passes through both lens groups and the aperture stop. For obtaining a soft-focus image, the second lens group is retracted (i.e., displaced from the optical axis such that light from the object does not pass through the second lens group), and light passes only through the first lens group and the aperture stop.

    • There is provided a behind stop wide angle lens system which comprises a positive lens L.sub.1 formed by joining a negative meniscus lens L.sub.11 whose convex surface faces an object and a positive meniscus lens L.sub.12 whose convex surface similarly faces the object, a biconcave negative lens L.sub.2, a biconvex positive lens L.sub.3 and an aperture stop S, disposed in this order from the side of the object. The behind stop wide angle camera achieves a wider angle of view and has an excellent imaging performance in spite of a simple structure and a compact size thereof.

    • An imaging lens includes a first lens group that includes sequentially from an object side, a first lens formed of resin and having a positive refractive power and a second lens formed of resin and having a negative refractive power, the first lens and the second lens collectively forming a cemented lens having a positive refractive power.     • A soft-focus lens system can be composed of, in order from the object side, a front group having a one-group-two-element or two-group-two-element composition of a positive and negative lens element with a positive overall power and a rear group having a one-group-two-element or two-group-two-element composition of a negative and a positive power. If conditions of the system are such that the system has a brightness in the range of 1:2.8 to 1:3.5 in terms of F number and a viewing angle of about 40 degrees, a desired soft-focus effect over the entire picture is produced.
