    • The present invention is directed to a mobile platform for the delivery of bulk explosives to a blast hole. One embodiment of the platform includes a vehicle, a tank for holding an explosive composition, and a conduit structure for conveying an explosive composition between the tank and a blast hole. The platform also includes a load cell structure for providing weight/mass data related to whatever explosive composition is disposed in the tank. The conduit structure includes a movable tube that is used to convey the explosive composition from a discharge port associated with the tank towards a blast hole. The platform is configured to prevent the movable tube and any explosive composition located in the tube from adversely affecting the operation of the load cells.

    • When driving a tube (24) into the ground, primarily for subsequently loading the tube with an explosive substance and subsequent blasting of the surrounding ground, a driving rod (20) whose rear end is provided with an insert end (13) which can be connected to a percussion machine (36) is employed in the driving operation. The non-metallic tube (24) is fitted over the driving rod (20), against an axial stop (16).     • The invention provides methods and apparatus useful primarily in the presplitting and blast removal of earth formations, the improvements according to the invention involving the use of inflatable devices suspended in boreholes used in shattering earth formations. The inflatable devices of the invention can be of various shapes and are provided with valves to allow a fluid such as air to be pumped into each device on placement of the device at a desired location in a borehole. The inflatable devices are preferably formed of a flexible, polymeric material which allows a desired degree of stretching to cause plugging of a borehole. The "plug" formed by an inflatable device of the invention allows loading of exposives into a borehole in order to produce desired blast results acording to the several methods of the invention.
