    • Muzzleloader systems include a pre-packaged propellant charge and primer for providing efficient loading and unloading of the muzzleloader. The breech end accepts the propellant and means are provided to prevent breech loading of the projectile. A propellant cartridge conforms to a constriction portion to minimize ullage. A projectile is inserted in the muzzle end seats on the constriction portion. The propellant cartridge may be received in a removable breech plug. The constriction portion may be part of the breech plug or a separate component secured in the barrel by way of the breech plug. The cartridge may have a primer mechanism integrated into a proximal end. Projectiles have sliding components that have an axial elongate position and an axial shortened position and may be loaded with a ramrod having an engagement portion for each of the two pieces whereby the projectile doesn't prematurely collapse.

    • A propelling charge support comprises horseshoe-shaped clips for engaging the tail fin and holding the propelling charges together for protection, a rounded saddle for holding the propelling charges of the cartridge, and winged edges to protect the propelling charges and aid in removal of the propelling charge support from the tail fin. The propelling charge support further comprises a flat outer surface on which the propelling charge support loaded with propelling charges can rest while being installed onto the tail fin. It comprises a fin engagement clip that interfaces with a fin blade when installed on the cartridge, and that prevents rotation of the propelling charge support and propelling charges about the tail fin axis during rough handling and transportation, preventing damage to the propelling charges.

    • A device for joining a first container to a second container to be inserted into the chamber of a weapon includes a first neck disposed adjacent a first face of the first container, a second neck disposed adjacent a second face of the second container and a deformable ring. The first container and the second container have container diameters that are less than a chamber diameter D1. The first face of the first container is alignable with a second face of the second container along a longitudinal axis. The second neck includes a circular cusp. The deformable ring is disposed around the first neck and includes an annular lip. The deformable ring is shaped to slide substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis toward the second container to engage the cusp. The deformable ring has a ring diameter D3 that is greater than the chamber diameter D1. The deformable ring is configured to decrease in diameter under deformation from the ring diameter D3 to the chamber diameter D1 when the first container is inserted into the chamber. As a result, the deformable ring disengages from the cusp and allows the first container to separate from the second container without requiring use of tools or manipulation by the operator.
