    • An engine control device 13 that cannot output a control signal to an electromagnetic wave emission device 30 is used to emit electromagnetic wave at an appropriate timing from the device 30 to a combustion chamber 10. A signal processing device 40 is connected to the engine control device 13 that outputs an ignition signal for instructing an ignition device 12 of the engine 20 to ignite fuel air mixture in the combustion chamber 10 of the engine 20. The signal processing device 40, upon receiving the ignition signal, outputs to the electromagnetic wave emission device 30 an electromagnetic wave drive signal that determines based on the ignition signal an emission period, which is a period for the electromagnetic wave emission device 30 to emit an electromagnetic wave to the combustion chamber 10, so that an ignition operation is performed during the emission period of the electromagnetic wave.

    • A distributor is configured with an outer housing that has a first portion and a second portion. The first portion and the second portion are adjustable in angular orientation relative to each other. Movement of the second portion relative to the first portion changes ignition timing in the distributor. The movement can be caused by rotation of a thumbwheel such that ignition timing can be changed without mechanical tools. The first and second portions also can comprise visual or tactile markings such that ignition timing can be changed without a timing light. The outer housing can be used in multiple applications simply by changing a length of a shaft housing member that houses a distributor shaft and a gear that is mounted to the distributor shaft.

    • Ignition apparatus includes high tension ignition cable. The cable is of low electrical resistance per unit length. A central core of the cable is formed of carbon fibre filaments. An insulating layer is provided around the core. A semiconductor layer is provided around the insulating layer. Another insulating layer is provided around the semiconductor layer. A layer of yarn around the other insulating layer forms a protecting layer. A protective layer of a flame retardant material forms an outer layer of the cable. The ignition apparatus also includes one or more of: a field stabilizer device for stabilizing and regulating high tension voltage in the cable; resistor spark plugs; connectors fitted to ends of the cable that include resistors therein, such as resistor spark plug boots.

    • To provide an ignition device for an internal combustion engine which for example prevents a crack from being made in a cast insulating resin or a transformer output voltage control element from being damaged. The ignition device for an internal combustion engine of the present invention includes: a transformer (2); a case (3) that is composed of a case body (3a) receiving the transformer (2), and a high-tension tower (3b) having an opening portion (5); a cast insulating resin (4) that is injected into the case body (3a) and cured and thus insulates and fixes the transformer (2); a high-voltage connection terminal (7) that closes the opening portion (5) such that the cast insulating resin (4) that has not been cured is prevented from entering the high-tension tower (3b); a noise-suppressing resister (8) that is received in the high-tension tower (3b), is electrically connected to the high-voltage connection terminal (7), and controls a voltage generated in the second winding in activating the transformer (2); and a spring (14) that electrically connects the noise-suppressing resister (8) and a spark plug to each other, and urges the noise-suppressing resister (8) toward the high-voltage connection terminal (7).

    • A vaporized fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine includes a housing adapted to be mounted on the engine and having a vaporizer heat shell therein connected to the engine for receiving hot exhaust gases. Air is compressed by means of compressor blades mounted at the tips of the conventional fan blades for the engine. The compressor blades travel in a shroud whereby the air is compressed and supplied to the housing where it passes over the vaporizer heat shell. A fuel vaporization chamber is formed directly on the heat shell and liquid fuel is injected directly onto the heated shell for vaporizing the fuel. When the engine is cold, the liquid fuel may be injected directly onto glow plugs disposed in communication with the chamber. The heated compressed air is delivered to an outlet passage having a throttle valve therein and the vaporized fuel is delivered through the outlet passage downstream of the throttle valve to provide an air/fuel vapor mixture which is delivered to each combustion chamber of the engine. A liquid coolant is injected directly into each combustion chamber to control the combustion temperature.
