摘要： A ladder with a powered lifting platform includes a first frame member and a second frame member each having a pair of support legs and an upper crossbar, wherein the first frame member is pivotally connected to the second frame member. Multiple steps are affixed between the pair of support legs of the first frame member. A lifting platform is slidably mounted between the pair of support legs of the second frame member. A powered lift mechanism has a control unit which includes a first control button configured to activate the powered lift mechanism and raise the lifting platform toward the upper crossbars and a second control button configured to activate the powered lift mechanism and lower the lifting platform away from the upper crossbars. The device allows users to safely transport heavier items to the top of the ladder without requiring the user to carry the item.

In one embodiment, the caster assembly includes a first wheel coupled with a first bracket and configured to rotate about a first axis relative to the first bracket. A shaft is coupled to the first bracket as well as to a second bracket. The first bracket is rotatable relative to the second bracket about a second axis, which may be coincident with, or parallel to, an axis of the shaft. A third bracket is coupled with the shaft and is rotatable about the second axis, the third bracket being selectively locked in at least two positions relative to the second bracket. A second wheel is coupled with the third bracket, the second wheel being rotatable relative to the third bracket about a third axis.

The step features an upper and a lower step supported by a structure including a right side each having a vertical support member, an angled support member, and upper and lower step support members. A rear horizontal support member and optional diagonal members provide additional support to the upper step. The step is foldable into a folded position, by folding both the upper and lower steps upwardly. The step has a minimal profile in the folded position.

摘要： An exemplary embodiment is an assistive device for enabling individuals with limited mobility to step up to a generally horizontal patient support apparatus having: a pair of foldable frames each having a generally U-shaped vertical side frame. Each of the frames has a plurality of horizontal support members and is coupled to one or more horizontal support bars that are located at a rear of the device. A plurality of foldable steps is coupled to the frames. A method of a patient/user using the device described above includes the acts of: unfolding a folded device (if folded); placing the device with a rear portion facing and against an examination table or bed. Having the patient/user grip a pair of grips and placing a first foot on a lower step. The patient then places a second foot on an upper step with the first foot remaining on the lower step while maintaining his/her hands on the grips. The patient then places the second foot on the second step, thus having both feet on the upper step and in a standing position while gripping the grips. The patient then turns around on the upper step to face away from the examination table or bed while still gripping the grips and moving to a sitting position on the examination table.
