    • The invention relates to a drop-down seal for a building part comprising a housing (1), a sealing strip (2, 3) that can be raised and lowered in said housing (1), and a spring-loaded lowering mechanism (8), which causes automatic lowering of the sealing strip (2, 3) when the building part is closed. The lowering mechanism (8) is connected to a slide (4, 6), which protrudes beyond the housing (1) at one end and which activates the lowering mechanism (8) when the building part is closed. The slide (4, 5) applies a tension to the lowering mechanism (8). The drop-down seal according to the invention enables a one-sided triggering in tension, wherein the seal has a space-saving design.

    • An automatically-actuated sealing device is disclosed which seals a gap between a door bottom (or edge) and a surface defining part of an opening through which weather, dust, insects, etc. may otherwise pass. The sealing device includes a support element attachable to the door bottom, a seal actuating element movably supported by the support element, a sealing element moved by the seal actuating element into a sealing position, and a plurality of metal, plastic or metal and plastic spring elements which couple the seal actuating element to the support element and urge the seal actuating element to seal the gap. The sealing devices operate by coupling the device to the opening defining surface so that opening and closing of the door generates movement of the seal actuating element. A projection on the seal actuating element is engaged by the door jamb or a bearing element attached to the jamb, and is laterally moved in response to opening and closing the door. In another embodiment, spring elements direct movement of the seal actuating member without lateral movement using a cord attached to the seal actuating element and the opening defining surface. The sealing device may be mounted to either side of or in an edge (mortise-mounted) of the door, and to both right and left-opening doors. A one-piece cover with end caps covers the sealing device. The support element is attached to the door using a few screws; everything else, including the cover and end caps, is attached without fasteners.

    • A sealing strip adjacent a slidable window glass in an automobile body, provides a sealing lip which is mounted on an air-tight hollow chamber having two relatively rigid sides stiffened by a metal carrier. The third side is a relatively flexible wall. Expansion of the chamber by air pressure pushes the flexible wall outwardly so that a leg pivots the lip out of engagement with the window glass. In this configuration, a further chamber can be expanded by air pressure so that a wiper is caused to move into contact with the face of the window glass. As the window glass is raised or lowered, this wiper removes moisture and prevents smearing. Partial evacuation of the chambers retracts the flexible wall, thus pulling the lip into sealing engagement with the window glass, and also causes the wiper to move out of contact with the glass. A water jet may also be provided to spray cleaning water onto the glass when in the closed position.

    • A new door threshold/weatherstripping device is disclosed that uses rollers, installed either in a door to contact a threshold surface, or in the threshold to contact the door. The rollers are supported by bearings that permit the rollers to turn freely as the door is opened or closed. The bearings are mounted in housings that have adjustable, spring loaded pistons. These pistons permit the spacing of rollers with respect to the threshold (or door) to be adjusted to ensure a tight seal. In the embodiment that utilizes a threshold mounted roller, a gripper pad is used to prevent the roller from turning when a person steps on it. This prevent possible slipping injuries. Both embodiments have brushes mounded adjacent to the rollers to clean them of dirt, snow and water.
