    • A reheat furnace work supporting member has a full length support bar protruding outwardly from precise locations on each of its opposite sides. The support bars extend the full length of the portion of the member which is to be insulated. A sectioned refractory barrier is suspended on the member by metal hangers which rest on the support bars. A method is also disclosed which includes providing a horizontal member having support bars positioned accurately on its opposite sides by preparation of the member outside a reheat furnace, then installing the member in the furnace where a refractory barrier having downwardly extending metal hangers can be attached quickly and easily at proper locations anywhere along the length of the member without requiring welding inside the furnace.

    • Braking and motion-arrest apparatus for braking the arrival of a zipline cable rider at a landing platform and arresting the rider's motion to retain the rider at the platform. A frame is mounted on the cable to allow longitudinal rolling movement of the frame along the cable. A self-closing one-way latch is provided at the forward end of the frame. The latch includes a pair of capture plates which are normally inwardly biased toward one another, on opposite sides of the cable. The rider is tethered to a pulley block which rolls along the cable and collides with the latch. The collision force drives the plates laterally away from the cable, allowing the pulley block to roll through the latch. After the pulley block rolls past the latch, the plates' normal biasing closes the latch, preventing the pulley block from rolling back through the latch.

    • A cableway system has a conveying cable that is guided via a head wheel pulleys in the two terminal stations of the system. Vehicles, such as gondolas or chairs, are coupled to the conveying cable between stations, and they are guided through the stations by way of travelling-gear mechanisms. In the stations, the vehicles are moved by way of tire wheels or control tires, and the tire wheels are driven by at least one supporting roller for the conveying cable. The supporting roller is located in the relevant station. The at least one of these supporting rollers for the conveying cable via which the drive power of the control tires is derived from the conveying cable is adjustable in the vertical direction.
