    • A method and system for softening a high-density leather finished roll good and other stiff high density roll goods may include adjusting a first horizontal distance between a first impact grid and a first tunnel opening and adjusting a second horizontal distance between a second impact grid and a second tunnel opening based on the stiffness of the roll good. The method also may include introducing the roll good in a first direction through the air tunnel until the roll good hits the second impact grid, and introducing the roll good in an opposite direction through the air tunnel until the roll good hits the first impact grid. The method may further include passing the roll good through a cooling chamber.

    • A device for automatically adjusting the staking pressure in staking machines with beating plates, wherein the machine includes at least one fixed plate (5) and at least one moving plate (4) which face each other and are provided with complementarily shaped tools; the fixed plate (5) is installed on threaded posts (11) which can be screwed in complementarily threaded bushes (12) which are rigidly coupled to a bed (3); there are locking devices (13) which act selectively on the fixed plate (5). The device includes at least one servomechanism (16) which is rigidly coupled to the fixed plate (5) and is connected to the threaded posts (11) for their automatic rotation; sensor devices (23) for detecting the value of the maximum penetration of the tools and for generating a first electrical signal; electronic control devices (24) for comparing the first electrical signal with a second presettable electrical signal which corresponds to the intended staking pressure and for continuously adjusting the power supply of the servomechanism. The servomechanism (16) consists of a gearmotor which is connected to the threaded posts (11) by virtue of a toothed belt and a chain.

    • Methods and apparatus for releasably locking or blocking a door combine a first element with that door for blocking the door in an extended position of that first element and for alternatively releasing the door upon movement of the first element from such extended position. The first element is releasably blocked in its extended position by removably locating a second element in a path of movement of the first element. The door may be locked by locking the first element in its extended position and blocking such locked first element with the second element. The locked first element is released by selectively removing the second element from the path of movement of the first element, and the door is released by moving the released locked first element in its path of movement while the second element is removed from such path of movement. The first element may selectively be unlocked while it is blocked by the second element, and such blocked unlocked first element may be removed for a release of the door. The first element may be provided with an anisometric configuration against movement despite a removal of the second element from the path of movement of the first element. Alternatively, the first element may be permitted in a second orientation at its anisometric configuration to move upon removal of the second element from its path of movement.
