摘要： A sugar cane milling system for two roll or three roll crushing mill modules in tandem in which one or more of these mill modules is provided in addition and adjacent to it with at least one toothed feeder roller and with a juice drainer in the form of a scraper-cum-short deflector for feeding a compact mat of prepared cane/bagasse directly to the nip of the crushing rolls of the modules. The prepared cane mat is fed approximately at the same speed as the surface speed of the crushing mill rolls without sharp changes in direction. Superficial juice is separated out as the cane mat is fed. A pressurized juice extracting conveyor is provided for removing the extra unabsorbed juice as well as squeezing out the absorbed juice out of cush-cush.

摘要： An insertless perforated mill roll body adapted to be detachably sleeved upon a roller shaft for the grinding of a fluid-containing material such as sugar cane and extracting fluid such as sucrose juice therefrom. The insertless perforated mill roll body includes a plurality of shish-ke-bab-like fluid channel strings to be encased in the roll body, each fluid channel string including a hollow fluid channel preferably defined by a channel wall member which generally extends between the two axial ends of the roll body with a plurality of fluid passage members affixed thereto. The roll body is formed by casting a castable material such as cast iron or steel to enclose the fluid channel strings, whereupon a hollow center bore is provided to receive the shaft therethrough. Each fluid passage member contains at least one generally radially extending fluid passage to allow communication between the outer periphery of the mill roll body and the fluid channel. The fluid passages are inherently cast in the roll body without the need to use externally applied inserts and the fluid passage members can be fixedly secured within the roll body by a retaining force developed during the casting process without any external means thus eliminating the insert fall-off problems experienced in the prior art perforated mill rolls while preserving and enhancing all the advantages thereof.

摘要： Extraction processes for the recovery of sugar from sugar cane can be improved by the incorporation of a fiber depither between one or more of the extraction mills. The cane fiber from an extraction mill is fed to a fiber depither where the cane fibers are macerated to break sugar containing cells. The sugar is removed in a liquid stream and the cane fibers in a solids stream. The cane fibers are preferably fed to a subsequent extraction mill. The liquid stream is preferably flowed countercurrent to the flow of cane fiber to the first extraction mill. From the first extraction mill the liquid stream is sent to sugar recovery.

The mounting sleeve is provided with a plurality of longitudinal slots equally spaced around the peripheral surface thereof. Each roller shell segment has a plurality of peripheral grooves and ridges on the outer side and a longitudinal key on the inner side to fit one of the longitudinal slots of the mounting sleeve. In a preferred embodiment a space is provided between each longitudinal slot of the mounting sleeve and each longitudinal key of the roller shell segment so as to form a passage, and juice collecting ports are provided in each groove of the roller shell segments to communicate with the aforesaid passage.

The juices extracted by pressure between the upper roller and the fourth roller can be recycled to the bagasse layer feeding the mill, either with the juices which have passed through this layer, or with the juices extracted by pressure between the upper roller and the inlet and outlet rollers.
