摘要： A polysulfone has sulfone units that are separated by alkylene units in a polymer chain or a copolymer chain where the alkylene units have at least four carbons between sulfone units. The alkylene units can include an ethenylene unit separated from the sulfone units by at least one methylene units. The polysulfones can be crosslinked for enhanced thermal stability. Membranes can be formed from the polysulfones.

摘要： Cross-linked polymer resins and related salts, solvates, tautomers or stereoisomers are described herein. The cross-linked polymer resins may comprise monomer units of N,N-diallyl aminoalkylphosphonate, a hydrophobic pendant, a tetraallylpiperazinium cross-linker, and sulfur dioxide. A method for producing the cross-linked polymer resins is described. The cross-linked polymer resins may be used as adsorbent materials for the removal of heavy metal ions and contaminant dyes from aqueous solutions. Used cross-linked polymer resins may be removed from solution, cleaned, and reused while maintaining adsorption capacity.

摘要： A zwitterionic monomer and corresponding cyclopolymerized polyzwitterion (±) (PZ) (i.e. poly(Z-alt-SO2). Phosophonate ester hydroloysis in PZ gave a pH-responsive polyzwitterionic acid (±) (PZA). The PZA under pH-induced transformation was converted into polyzwitterion/anion (±−) (PZAN) and polyzwitterion/dianion (±=) (PZDAN).

摘要： An additive formulation suitable for antistatic modification and improving the electrical conductivity of inanimate organic material, consisting essentially of(A) from 1 to 50% by weight of an olefin-sulfur dioxide copolymer,(B) from 1 to 50% by weight of a compound which comprises one or more basic nitrogen atoms and has at least one relatively long-chain linear or branched hydrocarbon radical having at least four carbon atoms or an equivalent structural element which ensures the solubility of component (B) in the inanimate organic material, (C) from 0.1 to 30% by weight of an oil-soluble acid and (D) from 1 to 80% by weight of a high-boiling organic solvent which consists of one or more molecule types, where at least 80% by weight of these molecule types have a boiling point of more than 150° C. at standard pressure, where the sum of all components adds up to 100% by weight.

摘要： The calcium sulfate scale-inhibiting compositions are polyelectrolyte antiscalant compositions for the inhibition of calcium sulfate scale formation in desalination plant feed brine, such as that typically used with reverse osmosis desalination plants. In order to inhibit the formation of calcium sulfate scale, the polyelectrolyte antiscalant compositions are mixed at a concentration between approximately 1 ppm and approximately 50 ppm into the desalination plant feed brine. The polyelectrolyte antiscalant composition may be either poly[disodium 3-(diallylamino)propanephosphonate]-alt-(sulfur dioxide), poly[sodium 5-(diallylcarboxymethylammonio)pentanoate]-alt-(sulfur dioxide), or poly[sodium 5-(diallylcarboxymethylammonio)pentanoate].

摘要： A process for forming a golf ball cover composition, which process comprises: a) forming a polymer comprising (1) a first monomeric component comprising an olefinic monomer having from 2 to 8 carbon atoms; (2) a second monomeric component comprising an unsaturated carboxylic acid based acrylate class ester having from 4 to 22 carbon atoms; and (3) an optional third monomeric component comprising at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, an anhydride monomer, an unsaturated monocarboxylic acid, an olefin having from 2 to 8 carbon atoms, and a vinyl ester or vinyl ether of an alkyl acid having from 4 to 21 carbon atoms; b) applying a sufficient amount of heat to the polymer to convert it to a substantially molten state; c) adding an inorganic metal base to the molten polymer to form a mixture; and d) saponifying the mixture to form a polymer salt particularly adapted for forming improved golf ball covers.

Similar sulfonic acids may be obtained by the latter process. The new compounds are useful as monomers for producing polymers, particularly moldable, dyeable, fluoropolymers, and as cationic initiators, e.g., for tetrahydrofuran polymerization.
