摘要： Systems and methods are directed to a pull-through winding method, and a manufacturing fixture, or mandrel, that guides the layup of material in the pull-through winding method, for fabrication of a three-dimensional load bearing structure. These systems and methods allow fibers of material of the 3D load bearing structure to be pulled as straight as possible during winding, and maintained as straight as possible during curing, to take full advantage of properties associated with the fiber or filament-based materials used in these structures, including, for example, carbon fiber material. The manufacturing fixture includes a plurality of pull-through slots at end portions thereof, that provide for the pulling of the fiber-based material, and the application and maintenance of tension in the material that maintains the alignment of the fibers as the material is wound, cured and hardened.

摘要： Transformable cable reels, related assemblies and methods are disclosed. The transformable cable reels may be provided in a first reel configuration for spooling on cable to the transformable cable reel and to pay out the spooled cable from the transformable cable reel. Cable spooled on the transformable cable reel may be payed out during cable installations. The transformable cable reel may also be configured in a second reel configuration for storage of any excess cable after cable payout. As one non-limiting example, the volume of the cable reel may be less in the second reel configuration than in the first reel configuration so that less volume is required to store the transformable cable reel. Providing the transformable cable reel in the second reel configuration may make it more feasible to store the transformable cable reel in fiber optic equipment, and/or avoid storing excess cable removed from a cable reel.

摘要： An arrangement of elongated material wound in a plurality of layers on a spool having a cylindrical core, a bottom flange and a top flange. A first series of layer form a conical basis of elongated material on the core where elongated material is present at the bottom flange in a larger amount than at the top flange. A second series of layers is wound over the conical basis. The conical basis is formed by a first layer being wound on the cylindrical core between the bottom flange and the top flange in a first number of windings, a second layer being wound on the first layer in a second number of windings being equal to or smaller than the first number of windings, the second layer reaching the bottom flange, where additional layers are wound on the second layer in numbers of windings.
