    • The present invention concerns an image recording apparatus, which records images on a roll-type recording medium. The image recording apparatus includes a recording device to record an image on a recording medium by emitting ink onto the recording medium; a cutting member to cut the recording medium after the recording device records the image, the cutting member being disposed downstream in respect to the recording device in a conveying-direction of the recording medium; a second conveyance member to convey the recording medium, the second conveyance member being disposed at a position located between the recording device and the cutting member in the conveying-direction of the recording medium; and a conveyance controller to control the second conveyance member so as to generate a slack of the recording medium at a section between the recording device and the second conveyance member in the conveying-direction of the recording medium.

    • An apparatus and methods are provided for dancingly controlling tension in a web of fabric such as for disposable garments. The apparatus preferably includes a dancer frame, a first set of a plurality of spaced-apart fabric guides connected to the dancer frame, a track connected to the dancer frame, and a tension yoke mounted for slidably following the he track. The tension yoke preferably includes a second set of a plurality of spaced-apart fabric guides positioned for slidably following the movement of the tension yoke when following the track. The apparatus also preferably includes a weight tension control assembly connected to the tension yoke for weightingly controlling the tension applied from the tension yoke to a web of fabric positioned thereon to thereby readily increase and decrease the tension applied to the web. A method of controlling tension in a web of fabric preferably includes positioning a web of fabric on first and second sets of a plurality of spaced-apart fabric guides, moving the web of fabric across the first and second sets of a plurality of spaced-apart fabric guides, and dancingly moving at least one set of the first and second sets of a plurality of fabric guides during movement of the web of fabric across the first and second sets of a plurality of spaced-apart fabric guides.

    • A paper making machine for producing a continuous traveling fiber material web includes a roll having a longitudinal axis and two longitudinal ends. Each end has a concentric first circular gear with a plurality of radially outwardly facing teeth. A felt is carried by the roll. The paper making machine also includes a pair of parallel lower elongated racks extending substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the roll. Each lower elongated rack includes a plurality of teeth carrying and meshing with the teeth of a respective first circular gear. The roll is rotatably movable with respect to the lower racks in two opposite directions along and parallel to the lower racks and transverse to the longitudinal axis of the roll. A first of the two opposite directions is toward the felt. The paper making machine further includes a device for rotating and thereby moving at least one first circular gear along a respective lower rack such that the felt is stretched in the first of the two opposite directions.

    • A media buffer capable of buffering two lengths of media, is fed a first length of media from an imagesetter at a first speed, and releases the media to a processor at a second speed. An input media sensor senses the media entering the buffer. Drive rollers take up the leading edge of the media at the imagesetter speed. Shortly thereafter a signal from an output media sensor located between the drive rollers and the processor, opens an input door to an input bin and stops the drive rollers. The incoming media continues to be fed by the imagesetter forming a first slack loop within the input bin. The imagesetter signals the buffer that the media has been cut, thereby actuating drive rollers to advance the media at the processor speed to a pair of rollers in the processor. A signal from the processor sensor opens an output door to an output bin. The drive rollers increase speed to transport the first piece of media from the input bin to the output bin thereby forming a second slack loop. The input media sensor senses the trailing edge of the first length of media exiting the input bin and signals the input door to close. At this point a second length of media may begin feeding from the imagesetter into the buffer. When the output bin is clear of the media the processor sensor signals the buffer to close the output door.

    • Apparatus for festooning a traveling length of textile fabric or other web-like material comprises a frame supporting a pair of opposed spaced endless conveyor chains across which a plurality of fabric support rods are removably carried by the conveyor chains in succession with one another for supporting an individual festoon of the fabric depending between each successively adjacent pair of the rods. A secondary conveyor arrangement at the fabric entrance end of the frame is operative to temporarily remove each succeeding fabric support rod from the conveyor chains and, after a selected dwell time, to replace each removed rod onto the conveyor chains to control the festooning accumulation of the fabric on the support rods. The upper web carrying run of the conveyor chains extends upwardly and downwardly in a sinuous path of travel over a succession of angularly inclined chain guide flanges, by which the overall length of the web carrying run in relation to the horizontal lengthwise dimension of the festooning apparatus is maximized.
