    • A propulsion system for an aquatic vessel is provided. The propulsion system includes a plurality of Magnus-type rotors and a drive arrangement for rotating the plurality of Magnus-type rotors. The plurality of Magnus-type rotors are operable to rotate about corresponding substantially upright axes. The propulsion system also includes a control arrangement for receiving one or more measured apparent wind speeds and for controlling the drive arrangement to vary rates of rotations of the plurality of Magnus-type rotors. The rates of rotations may, for example, be varied as functions of the measured apparent wind speeds and a direction of travel of the aquatic vessel. Moreover, the control arrangement includes a user-operable control for adjusting propulsion provided by the plurality of Magnus-type rotors. The control arrangement is operable to control the drive arrangement to vary a drive applied to rotate one or more Magnus-type rotors from the plurality of Magnus-type rotors.

    • A multi-stage watertight chamber is provided in this invention. The multi-stage watertight chamber comprises a first rotary seal, a second rotary seal, a first housing, a second housing, and an integrated shaft. The first and second rotary seals withstand external pressure to make sure watertight status is achieved when the integrated shaft rotates. The first housing forms a first watertight chamber. The integrated shaft protrudes through the first housing via the first rotary seal. The second housing is placed outside and adjacent to the first housing and forms a second watertight chamber. The first watertight chamber contains devices that must be isolated from liquid outside the first and second housings. The second watertight chamber is used to store water seeped through the second rotary seal and avoid causing damage directly to components and apparatus inside the first watertight chamber.

    • A mobile marine barrier (1) comprising a base (2) and a hood (8) located at a distal end thereof is described. The hood (6) comprises a funnel (15) and a distal surface (18) located therein which allows the hood (6) to morph its shape, size and strength so as to give adaptable coastal protection against naturally occurring events. This is achieved by incorporating a telescopic funnel such that the length of the hood (6) and thus the area of its open end can be altered so as to vary the quantity of water directed towards the distal surface (18). The hood (16) may also comprise a mobile face (17) that forms part of variable volume chamber (26) located within the hood (8) which can be filled and emptied with fluids.

    • A floating structure has a hull and a propeller propulsion system having a gear arrangement that is connected via a first intermediate shaft to at least one electromotor, the electromotor being arranged onboard the floating structure, and via a second intermediate shaft to a propeller. The gear arrangement has an angular gear. The first intermediate shaft forms an angle relative to the second intermediate shaft. The gear arrangement is arranged as a separate unit in an appendage or addition to the hull of the floating structure. The appendage or addition is designed to allow an interior thereof to be accessed from within the vessel, whereby maintenance, replacement, or repairs of the gear arrangement can be carried out. The angular gear has at least one angled gearwheel set and one cylindrical gearwheel set.
