摘要： A print device includes a head, a medium holding portion, an opening/closing cover, a feed path, a sensor, a window portion, and a blocking wall. The medium holding portion holds the medium and open to allow the medium to be taken out and put in. The opening/closing cover opens and closes an opening in the medium holding portion. The feed path extends from the medium holding portion toward the head and feeding the medium. The sensor is provided in the feed path. The window portion is provided in a position corresponding to between the sensor and the head, in a wall portion of the case, and allows the inside of the case to be seen from outside. The blocking wall is provided between the sensor and the window portion, and blocks a light coming in through the window portion toward the sensor.

摘要： A thermal printer has a main body frame and a platen roller rotatably and removably mounted in a preselected position on the main body frame. A thermal head is mounted on the main body frame for movement into and out of pressure contact with the platen roller during a printing operation and while the platen roller is in the preselected position for recording printing data on a recording medium disposed between the thermal head and the platen roller. A detecting device detects a preselected state of the thermal printer in which the platen roller is in the preselected position and in which the recording medium is disposed between the platen roller and the thermal head.

摘要： A printer and receiver supply tray adapted to sense amount of receiver therein, and method thereof. The printer comprises a print head for printing an image on the receiver and a supply tray associated with the print head for holding a plurality of cut sheets of the receiver, the cut sheets defining a stack of sheets having a predetermined height. A sheet feeder engages the stack of sheets for sequentially feeding sheets from the tray and to the print head, such that height of the stack of sheets decreases as the sheets are fed therefrom. A platen is movably connected to the tray for continuously supporting the stack of sheets in the tray as height of the stack of sheets decreases. An indicator is connected to the platen and movable therewith for indicating height of the stack of sheets as the height of the stack of sheets decreases. The indicator has a surface area thereon of a predetermined light reflectance associated with the amount of sheets in the tray. A sensor is optically coupled to the indicator for sensing light reflected from the surface area thereof, the sensor being adapted to cast light on the surface area and sense the light reflected therefrom.

摘要： An ink jet printing apparatus is described having facilities for printing information in character locations, (boxes) each character location comprising a plurality of vertical columns of drop locations, and a number of characters comprising a line of information. Structures and circuits are included for insuring correct location of information within the character boxes and also providing for one mode in which characters are printed continuously line-by-line and another mode in which characters are printed incrementally character-by-character. During incremental printing, as well as the first character in a line or group of characters, provision is made for re-bounding the printhead back into the box of the character just printed, that is, prior to the next character box to be printed to insure that when the printhead starts up again for the next character that all drop components for that character, including any located in the immediate vicinity of the character boundary, are properly placed during printing.

摘要： A type holder positioning device for a teletypewriter or the like including a shaft to which the holder is fixed, a pair of flanges on the shaft between which a rod is located to raise and to lower the shaft and holder. The holder therefore does not interfere with the reading of a typed message during intervals of non-use or where one or a series of spaces are upcoming. A solenoid operator and a solenoid releasable latch work in concert from present and future space information to control the position of the shaft and holder. Operation of the operator and latch also reduces equipment wear.
