    • A butt flare reducing apparatus for logs is provided. The apparatus includes a machine frame, a stator ring assembly fixedly coupled to the machine frame, and a flare reducing tool adjustment assembly movably coupled to the stator ring assembly. The apparatus further includes an actuator coupled on one end to the machine frame and on the other end to the flare reducing tool adjustment assembly to move the flare reducing tool adjustment assembly between the opposing end positions, and a rotor assembly rotatably coupled to the stator ring assembly. The rotor assembly includes a rotor frame and at least one flare reducing tool movably coupled to the rotor frame to translate linearly toward and away from a longitudinal axis of rotation in direct correlation to movement of the actuator and flare reducing tool adjustment assembly to adjust a log processing diameter. Related methods are also provided.

    • A method for harvesting and an arrangement for processing wood. In a harvesting area, a baler (1) is used to bale small-dimensioned wood into bales belonging to different bale classes, wherein a compressed wood bundle (9) is bound by means of a binding member (10). Energy bales (11d) and raw material bales (11a to 11c) may be created in a forest. The raw material bales may be processed in a debarking device (21), wherein the wood contained by the bale is divided into a pulp fraction (26) and an energy fraction (25). The pulp fraction may be used in the manufacture of raw material, and the energy fraction may be used as fuel.

    • A flip top housing apparatus for side saw and topping saws used with a tree processing apparatus. The apparatus comprises a bottom section which attaches to one side of a plurality of hinges and a top section which pivotally attaches to the opposite sides of the hinges such that the top section is selectively moveable between a processing position atop the bottom section, shielding the saw blade from the surrounding environment during tree processing, and the transport position adjacent the bottom section, for allowing the housing to avoid low clearances during the transporting of the tree processing device. A lock comprising a handle portion, which fixedly attaches to the top section, and a receiving portion, which fixedly attaches to the bottom section, allows one to fasten the top and bottom section together during the processing position. The bottom section includes a plurality of guide flanges integrally connected to and vertically extending upwardly from bottom section such that the flanges may interlock with a plurality of recesses formed within the top section thereby stabilizing the housing apparatus in the processing position. A top and bottom tab extending substantially perpendicularly of the top and bottom section, respectively, are positioned such that apertures in each align as the top tab aligns with the bottom during the transport position thereby allowing a locking mechanism to be inserted therethrough.

    • A device for delimbing trees includes two pairs of opposing curved limb-stripping levers including curved cutting blades for engaging and encircling the trunk of a tree to remove limbs therefrom, and a bottom cutting blade positioned to remove limbs from a lower portion of the tree. The bottom cutting blade is movably mounted so as to move in response to forces imposed on the bottom cutting blade by a tree being pulled through the device. In one embodiment, the bottom cutting blade is vertically movable and is biased upward by a spring device. In another embodiment, the bottom cutting blade is pivotally mounted so as to be pivotable forward and rearward, and an impact tool is arranged to periodically transmit impact forces to the bottom cutting blade in a forward direction so as to drive the blade through a limb.
