    • An apparatus for hardening the hitting head area of a wooden baseball bat by compressing of the wooden fibers on the surface thereof which includes a base housing assembly with a track and a carriage assembly with a rail member. The rail member and the track are engageable together to facilitate movement of the carriage assembly with respect to the base housing assembly. A compression roller is mounted to the housing and a bat is retained to the carriage adjacent the roller. The roller is biased into abutment with the bat for compressing the wooden fibers of hitting surface to increase the hitting power thereof as the carriage with the bat mounted thereof is manually powered for abutting movement along the adjacent compressing roller. The bat can be selectively mounted in a bat receiving zone defined by a plurality of U-shaped retaining brackets mounted to the carriage assembly.

    • A combination planer/moulder having means to raise, lower and lock a cutting member at a desired position is provided. The device includes a platform onto which a table for holding materials and an adjustment system are attached. The adjustment system includes at least one column having a rectilinear wall. A cutterhead is provided, having cooperative openings and a locking means, such that it may move along the at least one column of the adjustment system and locked in place. The rectilinear wall of the column cooperates with a similarly shaped opening in the cutterhead, such that by pressing the rectilinear shaped side of the opening against the rectilinear wall of the column the cutterhead may be fixed in desirable positions to permit work on materials and released for adjustment. The device includes a window such that the placement of the cutting knives on the materials can be viewed and debris can be seen and removed therefrom.

    • An adjustable scale typically used with a router table may be reset at any time to facilitate determining the change in height of the router regardless of where the scale is positioned when the router is at a given height. When used with a router table having a table plate with a height adjustment screw for adjusting the height of the router, the scale includes a marker carried by the table plate or the adjustment screw. When carried by the adjustment screw, the marker is rotatable relative to the adjustment screw to align markings thereon with a reference mark on the table plate to reset the scale. Thus, a zero marking may be aligned with the reference mark at any height of the router, and the adjustment screw and marker may then be rotated together to adjust the height of the router and simultaneously measure the height change.
