To maintain an operating tension of the tensible transmission member when the feeding member is moved relative to the grinding member, a tensioning mechanism is disposed to enable effective transmission of a drive force from the reduction gear mechanism to the feeding member.

Thus, the distance between the grinding devices and the conveyor platform can be adjusted arbitrarily by the lift device, so that the grinding devices can be used to grind workpieces of different thickness.

The grinding conditions such as a grinding method and a finishing diameter of the workpiece are inputted so that data necessary for grinding the Workpiece are automatically determined in dependence upon the grinding conditions. The automatically determined grinding data are displayed on a display means. The grinding data displayed on the display means are modified by one of the four rules of arithmetic. The modification are carried out in accordance with a compensation rate set by override switch and the like or a compensation value inputted by a key operation.

摘要： A method of forming a hydrostatic nut that cooperates with a lead screw for translating a wheel head, or carriage, on a grinding machine, such as a cam grinder. A lead screw, which is externally threaded, is inserted into a cylindrical mold, which is internally threaded. The lead screw is retained therein by pressure plates that seal off opposite ends of the open bore of the mold.A continuous cavity is defined between the internal threads on the nut and the external threads on the lead screw. An epoxy resin or other castable polymer is introduced through an inlet port in the mold into the cavity. The castable polymer is allowed to cure into a rigid mass that adheres to the internal threads on the mold. The lead screw is removed, and the mold may be machined to its final configuration as a hydrostatic nut.At least one helical channel is defined in the outer surface of the rigid mass adhered to the mold. In a preferred embodiment, one helical channel is formed on the leading edge of each thread, and a second, helical channel is formed on the trailing edge of each thread. Oppositely directed helical channels are pressurized to form a thin fluid film that prevents metal to metal contact between the complementary helical threads on the nut and the lead screw. The rigid polymeric mass is structurally reinforced by the threads defined on the metal nut, so that the channels defined on the exterior surface thereof maintain their dimensions.

摘要： A method of forming a hydrostatic nut that cooperates with a lead screw for translating a wheel head, or carriage, on a grinding machine, such as a cam grinder. A lead screw standard, or master, which is externally threaded, is inserted into a cylindrical mold, which is internally threaded. The standard is retained therein by pressure plates that seal off opposite ends of the open bore of the mold. Beads of wax, or tape, or some other rigid instrumentality, are adhered to the exterior surfaces of the helical threads on the standard, while the rest of the standard is treated with a release coating.A continuous cavity is defined between the internal threads on the nut and the external threads on the standard. An epoxy resin or other castable polymer is introduced through an inlet port in the mold into the cavity. The castable polymer is allowed to cure into a rigid mass that adheres to the internal threads on the mold except for the helical beads. The standard is removed, the mold is machined to its final configuration as a hydrostatic nut, and the wax, or tape, is removed to leave voids in the rigid cured polymer. The voids define oppositely directed helical channels that are pressurized to form a thin fluid film that prevents metal to metal contact between the complementary helical threads on the nut and lead screw. The cured polymeric mass is structurally reinforced by the threads defined on the metal nut, so that the channels defined on the exterior surface thereof maintain their dimensions.

The feed unit comprises a hydraulic advance cylinder having a double rod, one end of which is connected to the tool slide to move the tool slide towards and away from the workpiece. A cam engaging member is connected to the opposite end of the double rod for linear movement with the double rod and the tool slide, and a cam is provided in selective engagement with the cam engaging member. A hydraulic feed cylinder has a single rod connected to the cam for linearly reciprocating the cam. When the cam is in engagement with the cam engaging member, the linear movement of the cam controls the linear movement of the tool slide.

摘要： Precision control over the cutting force during robotic deburring and edge contouring is obtained by use of a "zero spring rate" driver. The driver consists of an air cylinder with a low friction piston. An accumulator is used in between an air supply line and the air cylinder such that the air pressure against the piston is constant. The driver is used to position or move a moving portion of an ultralow friction ball slide relative to a fixed portion of the ball slide. The arrangement avoids inaccuracies in a metal removal process which might otherwise be caused by robot path errors, part setup errors, and robot stepwise motion effects.
