    • A rail structure related to a track of a system adapted for electrically driving a vehicle along a roadway. The vehicle is provided with a current collector which is displaceable up and down and sideways in relation to the direction of transportation, in order to be brought into mechanical and electrical contact with elongated tracks positioned below the roadway and comprising a conductor adapted to be supplied with current and put under voltage. The rail structure comprises one or more tracks oriented parallel with external wall sections made of metal, and a partition separating the external wall sections and comprising an intermediate wall made of an electrically conductive material. Conductors are arranged in a lower portion of the tracks, respectively. The tracks comprise electrically insulating layers applied to surface portions facing each other of said wall sections and the partition, the insulating layers being coordinated with the lower portions and intended to support the conductors.

    • The invention is directed to an apparatus to assist a model railroad hobbyist in cleaning driven or non-driven wheels of a locomotive or car. To achieve this objective, removable and invertable embodiments of the invention are disclosed. The invention provides a convenient means for replacing a conventional track segment with a dedicated cleaning segment. In one series of embodiments, a conventional track segment is replaced with a cleaning segment; in another series, a conventional segment is mounted to a support on an obverse side while a cleaning segment is mounted on a reverse side thereof. Nonlinear rail contacts are used to establish electrical continuity between the track and the mounted segments. Removal, inversion, and replacement of the support permits the user to change the segment in use. In yet another series of embodiments, the support is rotatable, thereby permitting the user to merely rotate the support from one segment to the other.

    • The present invention is directed to track locking systems for model railroads of the type in which separate sections of track are removably connected to form a desired closed pattern over which a model train will travel. The track sections include electrically conductive rails for supporting and guiding the model train thereon, and for providing electrical energy from a source for driving the train. Individual track bed sections connected to each other are joined at two laterally offset positions to enhance the stability of the sections removably locked together. The locking elements on the respective track sections joined together are oriented at substantially right angles to the direction of the rails to further enhance the stability and integrity of the joined track sections. A secure connection between locked track sections assures a positive engagement between electrical connectors to provide a completed electrical circuit when the track sections are joined in the desired closed pattern.

    • A track set as set forth for use with a toy train or the like includes a pair of mirror image C-shaped track portions coupled to a circular base. The travel path of the track set may be configured to provide a figure-eight, a peanut-shape, and a pair of separate distinct circular travel paths.

    • A construction toy system is disclosed for the assembly of a guide track structure for a wheeled vehicle. Basic structural components, comprising rod-like struts and molded plastic connector elements adapted for snap-together attachment to the strut elements, enable support structures to be assembled. One or more guide track elements is provided, preferably in the form of a continuous, slotted flexible tube, typically formed by extrusion of plastic material. Special track-mounting connector elements are formed with track-mounting lugs which extend through the slotted side of the tubular track element to provide internal support. Track-mounting lugs are positioned at spaced points throughout the structure, providing spaced support for the track element. The flexible track element is self-supporting between mounting lugs, and conforms readily and smoothly to vertical and horizontal contours of the structure. An intermediate clip-like support device, which attaches to but does not form part of the structural framework, provides additional and optimized support of the flexible track between fixed support points, where such additional support is necessary or desirable. The clip-like support may be slidably adjusted along a longitudinal structural member underlying the normal path of the rail.

The track bed consists of a bar-shaped bed section (11), which is made of elastically and/or plastically deformable and preferably elastoplastic material and has a cross-sectional profile which simulates that of a typical superstructure and preferably has the configuration of an isosceles trapezoid without the closing longer side thereof. The side of the profile represents the road surface for receiving the track grate (1, 9, 10), the legs (13, 14) constitute slopes. The top surface of the bed section (11) is provided with recesses (15), which are substantially complementary to the track grate (1) so that the latter can be inserted into said recesses to a depth corresponding to at least part of the height of the sleepers or ties. The bed section is provided with stiffeners (17, 18) on its underside.
