    • A wireless technology (e.g., Wi-Fi) coexistence architecture and method are disclosed for managing potential conflicts between wireless technology interference sources. A coexistence driver maintains a conflict map identifying potentially conflicting wireless technologies on a computing device. Such technologies, due to their use of overlapping transmission frequency spectra, potentially create signal interference with one another while transmitting. Managing such conflict is carried out by initially identifying conflicts arising from wireless technology interference sources based on entries within the conflict map for a set of currently installed wireless technology interfaces. Thereafter the coexistence driver creates a virtual coexistence driver to manage an identified set of conflicting wireless technology interference sources, wherein the coexistence driver regulates transmission of data sets by wireless technology interfaces according to a coexistence scheme including priority-based data transmissions.

    • The present invention relates to a communication system and method, an information processing terminal and method, and an information processing apparatus and method which enable very suitable confirmation of details of an operation. In a PDA 11, an exterior image of a terminal is prepared as characteristic information representing characteristics of the PDA 11. Also, in the PDA 11, communication establishing information for establishing predetermined wireless communication with a personal computer 1 is prepared, and a built-in reader/writer 12 transmits both types of information to a reader/writer 2 of the personal computer 1. The personal computer 1 establishes wireless communication with the PDA 11 based on the communication establishing information, and controls a display unit 3 to display an exterior image of the PDA 11 based on the characteristic information while performing the establishing processing. The present invention can be applied to various types of information processing apparatuses such as personal computers and PDAs.

    • A switch circuit selectively connects either a transmitter or a receiver to an antenna. The switch circuit has a transmitting pathway connecting the transmitter to the antenna 300 and containing only non-semiconductor elements (such as a first quarter-wave transmission line 313), and a receiving pathway connecting the antenna to the receiver and containing only non-semiconductor elements (such as a second quarter-wave transmission line 303). Preferably, the transmitting pathway and receiving pathway include only elements having a very low insertion loss. A wireless local area network (WLAN) includes the transmitter, receiver, antenna and switch circuit.
