    • A lens driving device for driving a focusing lens of a photographing lens for a camera is provided with a focusing ring that is rotated to move the focusing lens, an AF motor and an MF (manual focusing) ring. Each of the AF motor and the MF ring is connected to the focusing ring to rotate the same. The AF motor is driven to rotate. The MF ring is operable even when the AF motor is rotated. The device is further provided with a first detector that detects a driving amount of the focusing lens, a second detector that detects a driving speed of the AF motor, and a speed controller that controls a driving speed of the AF motor in accordance with detection outputs of the first and second detector.

    • There is provided a camera which is compact in size and inexpensive even with the use of two motors, which allows relevant mechanisms to be laid out freely to thereby simplify motor controlling sequences, and which allows the user to quickly perform preliminary winding of a newly loaded film after film rewinding to thereby minimize the effects of film replacement during photographing. A first motor is used to drive a film winding driving system and a film rewinding driving system. A switching mechanism selectively switches between a winding state in which a driving force of the first motor can be transmitted to the film winding driving system, and a rewinding state in which the driving force of the first motor can be transmitted to the film rewinding driving system. A second motor is used to drive the switching mechanism for selective switching between the winding state and the rewinding state. A microcomputer CPU causes the switching mechanism to select the winding state after causing the switching mechanism to select the rewinding state to thereby carry out rewinding of a film, and thereafter terminates control of winding of the film.

The predetermined space is ensured between a front-set lens and the rear-set lens when the rear-set lens takes a position optically closest to the front-set lens. An electrical wiring from a shutter section passes in the vicinity of the flat peripheral region and extends toward a camera main body. An electrical connecting section, at which a certain part of the electrical wiring and a wiring extending from a shutter actuating section associated with the shutter section are connected, is located within the predetermined space.

    • A camera auto-focus mechanism includes a frame having a first hollow cylinder. A second hollow cylinder including metal material is fit over the first cylinder and capable of moving relative to the first cylinder. A first lens is fixed to the frame, and a second lens is fixed inside the second cylinder, both lenses being axially aligned with the cylinders. An insulated conductive metal coil is wound around the first cylinder, and a spring joins the second cylinder and the first cylinder. When current is not applied to the coil, the second cylinder is held in a first position by the spring such that the first and second lenses form a first focal length. And, when current is applied to the coil, the second cylinder is held in a second position against a force of the spring such that the first and second lenses form a second focal length.

    • The present invention provides a lens barrel apparatus dispensing with deliberate switching between manual and automatic operation modes and permitting quick adjustment of conditions regarding the object. In this apparatus, a gear moving plate of a clutch mechanism is connected to the external gear of a zooming or focusing ring, a gear fixing plate of the clutch mechanism is connected to a zoom motor, and the gear moving plate is operated by a clutch operating motor via a coil spring and a moving gear to connect and disconnect the fixed plate. When the clutch mechanism is disconnected, a movable disk and a coil spring are enabled to freely rotate by a thrust bearing. By operating the clutch mechanism on the basis of an operational control signal for a zooming switch, switching between manual and electric operation modes is automatically accomplished. Further the manual operation torque of the zooming ring can be either adjusted with a volume control device or automatically maintained at a constant level. Further, if focusing is done when the zoom is set for manual operation, any variation in the angle of field due to a pumping phenomenon is corrected with a correcting circuit.
