    • An angular position sensor for determining the relative angular position of two relatively rotatable ferromagnetic coaxial components, such as a rotor and stator. The components have the same number of regularly distributed teeth and the teeth in one component are separated by an air gap from the teeth in the other component. A plurality of coils are connected in series with each other and are disposed around the teeth in one of the components and correspond in number to the number of associated teeth. An electric excitation signal having a measurable constant electrical characteristic is fed to the plurality of coils from a source. The characteristic is modulatable in response to variations in the magnetic reluctance of the air gap effected by changes in the relative angular position between the two components. Electronic circuitry is connected to coils for measuring the modulation of the characteristics to determine the relative angular position of the components. In angular position determination apparatus comprising a plurality of angular position sensors, mechanical connections are provided between the rotors on the one hand and the stators on the other. The angular displacement between the rotor and stator teeth differs for each sensor, the difference generally being a multiple of the quotient of 2.pi. by the number of teeth and the number of sensors. The sensor is well adapted for use in the robotics field.

    • An improved drive control circuit is disclosed for enabling the multiplexed drive of synchro receivers. A zero crossing detector is coupled to sense the zero crossings of a signal driving the excitation winding of a synchro receiver. A counter coupled to the output of the zero crossing detector responds to one of every n counts to provide a count signal for operating a synchro driver associated with each one of multiple synchro receivers. The count signal causes the synchro driver to provide a signal output to the respective synchro receiver during a period defined by the count signal to reduce average power dissipation and provide effective damping without sacrificing peak current capability.

    • In a conventional rotation state detecting apparatus of a synchronous machine, since short-circuiting must be carried out twice or more when a rotation speed is detected, there have been problems in that it takes a time to detect a rotation state, and it takes a time to start up. The calculation unit outputs a voltage vector for short-circuiting the respective phases of the synchronous machine, outputs trigger signals on at least one occurrence of the short-circuiting to produce current values from the detection unit multiple times, and calculates a rotation speed and a rotation position of the synchronous machine.

    • A magnetic transducer is provided having a plurality of magnetic poles arranged annularly about an axis to form a stator coacting with a rotor which rotates about the same axis to induce changes in the magnetic forces between the poles. Each of the poles in the stator has a sense coil thereon for generating an electric output signal in response to the induced changes in flux. At least one pair of these magnetic poles have the same polarity and are positioned substantially 180.degree. apart. The sense coils on each of the poles in this pair are connected in series so that the resulting output electrical signal from these coils would be cumulative.
