    • An improved process for recovery of liquefied petroleum gas from a raw natural gas feed stream, capable of achieving ultra high propane recovery yields, thereby separating substantially all of the propane and heavier hydrocarbon components from a predominantly methane and ethane feed gas stream. The process includes steps to liquefy all of the propane and heavier components and part of the methane and ethane components by cooling, condensing, and absorption. The residual feed gas containing the methane and ethane components, being the final gaseous product stream. The liquefied portion of the feed is separated and then fractionated in a distilling unit to produce a propane and heavier product stream. The distilling unit overhead vapors are cooled and condensed in two steps to provide reflux for the top of the deethanizer and for the feed gas absorption.

    • Oxygen-containing gas comprising no more than about 50 mol % oxygen is fed (150) to an auxiliary separation column (40) in a multiple column cryogenic air distillation system comprising at least a higher pressure (“HP”) column (10) and a lower pressure (“LP”) column (30) for separation into nitrogen-rich overhead vapor and oxygen-rich liquid. Oxygen-rich liquid is fed (154) from the auxiliary column (40) to an intermediate location in the LP column (30). The auxiliary column (40) is refluxed with a liquid stream from or derived from the HP column (10). One advantage of the invention is that the diameter of the upper sections (II, III) of the LP column (30) need no longer be larger than the diameter of the rest of the column system thereby increasing the capacity of the column system (under the constraint of a defined maximum column section diameter).

    • A process for separating a feed gas stream containing methane, C2 components, C3 components, and heavier components into a volatile gas stream containing a major portion of the methane and C2 components and a less volatile stream containing a major portion of the C3 and heavier components by adjusting the temperature and pressure of the feed gas stream and charging it to a separator/absorber where the gas stream is separated into a first gas stream containing a major portion of the methane and C2 components with a minor content of C3 and heavier components and a first liquid stream containing a major portion of the C3 and heavier components with a lesser concentration of C2 and lighter components with the first liquid stream being fractionated in a deethanizer into an overhead stream and a bottoms stream with the bottoms stream containing primarily C3 and heavier components with the overhead stream containing primarily C2 and lighter components being at least partially condensed and separated into a liquid reflux stream, a second liquid stream and a vaporous stream. The second liquid stream is passed to an upper portion of the separator/absorber for use therein to absorb C3 and heavier components from a gas stream in the separator/absorber.
