    • A hydraulic rotary manifold has a core manifold having a barrel and a rotatable spindle inserted in the barrel. The core manifold is common to a variety of different configurations involving removable spindle-mounted and barrel-mounted manifolds, which may be removably mounted on the core manifold and exchanged for other removable manifolds to provide different hydraulic fluid flow paths in the rotary manifold using the common core manifold. The rotary manifold permits retrofitting a secondary fluid flow path to use a secondary fluid in conjunction with a work tool mounted on the rotary manifold. The rotary manifold permits mounting a rotary position encoder on a barrel-side of the rotary manifold permitting the use of the common core manifold when a rotary position encoder is desired. Electronically actuated cartridge valves may be integrated into the core manifold and/or removable manifolds to provide further customization of the hydraulic fluid flow paths in the rotary manifold and/or to provide cross-over relief paths within the rotary manifold itself.

    • A fluid coupling assembly includes a rotatable fluid coupling and fastener, and a gasket having upper and lower washers interconnected by a deflectable strap. When the strap is laterally deflected, the fastener passes through openings in the coupling with minimal interference. The strap exerts a return force for engaging the washers with the fastener upon release. Tangs on the washers engage the fastener, and one washer forms a seal against a surface. A banjo joint assembly includes a rotatable banjo coupling, the gasket, a gasket with tangs, and a bolt retained to the coupling by the tangs. A method for preparing a fluid coupling assembly for attachment to an external surface includes providing a gasket with deflectable portions, positioning a fluid coupling in the space therebetween, deflecting the portions sufficiently to insert a fastener into the coupling, and retaining the coupling on the fastener when the portions are not deflecting.

    • An improved ratcheting tool swivel body assembly which would include a swivel body having a principal body portion, and a threaded port extending outward from the wall of the stem body, the stem body would further include a continuous opening therethrough, for receiving an elongated stem member, the stem member including a port through the stem member, for allowing fluid to flow between the port and the stem member and the threaded port of the swivel body. The stem member would be maintained in position through the use of a retainer ring adjacent the lower threaded end of the stem body and rests along a angular surface of the swivel body so that should inordinate pressure be placed on the swivel assembly or it comes into contact with a blunt force, the retainer ring is maintained in position against the angulated surface which prevents disengagement of the stem member from the swivel assembly body.

    • The present invention relates to an improved hydraulic coupling which forms contact seals to fluidly connect a tapered port with a tube having a threaded connecting portion. The contact seals may be metal-to-metal seals, or alternatively may include a resin polymer element. For connecting a tube directly in the port, one embodiment of the invention includes an outwardly extending lip on an expanded portion of the tube and a tube nut rim wherein the tube nut engages the expanded portion and by tightening the tube nut, the tube lip deforms on the tapered port and the tube nut rim deforms on both the tapered port and the tube. Optionally, o-rings may be added to provide additional seals. The coupling may be designed not to seal without the application of tool generated torques.
