    • The present invention is directed to a frame that is placed at an opening portion in a partition provided in houses and the like, and specifically an adjustable frame comprising a plurality of frame adjustable fasteners including: a fixing member including an external thread member having a cylindrical manner for being incorporated at a partition side of an opening portion in a partition provided in houses and the like, and a base member for rotatably supporting said external thread member; and an internal thread member for being rotatably engaged with said external thread member and for installed in a frame body. The adjustable frame allows the external thread member to be turned, thereby adjusting its length, capable of fixing to the opening portion of the partition. Further, if necessary, the adjustable frame may be comprised of a pair of frame members having the width where a first frame member and a second frame member overlap in part in a thickness direction of the partition (wall thickness). It is provided a surface member so arranged that the end face of said second frame member that overlaps the surface of said first frame member and the edge surface thereof are covered, and a clip engaging member for allowing said first frame member to be brought into contact with the back surface of said second frame member is also provided. In the above-mentioned arrangement, therefore, the adjustable frame can be adapted for the wall thickness of the opening portion. The adjustable frame can be realized in a manner that the spacing between the partition and the frame can be readily adjusted by turning the external thread member at the time of installation of the frame at the opening portion of the partition provided in houses and the like, and can be adapted for different levels of the wall thickness by a separated frame member in a wall thickness direction of the opening portion.

    • A reinforcing system for strengthening a door frame having two parallel vertical doorjambs separated from one another by a top horizontal doorjamb. The reinforcing system comprises two elongated channel-shaped 90° corner members positioned in the upper opposite corners of the door frame. Each corner member comprises one elongated flat panel with two substantially parallel sides extending along and outward from the opposite edges of the flat panel. The flat panel has a width and the parallel sides extend in a direction permitting each of the parallel sides to be positioned adjacent one of the opposing sides of a doorjamb when the flat panel is positioned adjacent the exterior side of the doorjamb. The reinforcing system further comprises at least one elongated straight channel-shaped member otherwise similarly formed positioned on the doorjamb opposite where the door hinges will be attached. The reinforcing system further comprises a strike having a tubular body extending substantially perpendicular from its plate and into an opening through the doorjamb and into the wall stud to which the doorjamb is attached. The tubular body is closed at the extending end by an end plate having an opening shaped to permit a screw, nail or other similar attaching member to extend into the structural member to fix the tubular body to the wall stud.

Special mounting plates are attached to the wall via nails or other fasteners and include a specially designed key protrusion that mate with the keyhole slot.     • A plastic back-up shear plate is laterally disposed with a spring fit into the outwardly facing mouth of a metal window frame. The outwardly facing mouth is formed and defined by the window frame. The window frame is an elongated hollow body with opposing outer wall elements which define the outwardly facing mouth. The shear plate is snap fit into the mouth. The shear plate has laterally disposed opposite outer edge portions which are interlockable on the outer wall elements which define the mouth of the window frame. The shear plate has a lateral dimension slightly larger than the lateral mouth dimension which causes the shear plate to snap fit into the mouth with the spring fit. In one embodiment, the shear plate includes support ribs. In another embodiment, the outer base face of the shear plate includes at least one, and preferably two, shim elements which rise above the outer face. The shim elements may be arcuate elements. In another embodiment, compressible shim fingers are utilized. These Finger shims may further include pads.
