    • The present invention includes an interlock having an elongate male plug and an elongate female socket. The socket has an open rectangular cross-section with a receiving cavity designed to receive and ensleeve the plug, which also has a rectangular cross-section. The socket includes a back wall, top wall, bottom wall, and a discontinuous front wall creating an upper and lower flange with an opening existing between the free ends of the flanges. The bottom, top, and back walls are planar in shape providing three planes on which the socket can mate to a planar portion of a structure, such as a sheet pile. The plug includes a flange-contacting surface with a pile receipt disposed inwardly from the flange-contacting surface. The inwardly set pile receipt allows an end of a plate to be secured to the plug within the outer perimeter of the plug resulting in an obstruction free flange-contacting surface.

    • The present invention is an interlocking shoring panel for excavation with implied methods of use. In one preferred embodiment the panel comprises a top edge, a bottom edge, a first side edge, a second side edge, an inner surface and an outer surface. The edges have attachment means such as complementary interlocking features for connecting the panel to one or more adjacent shoring panels. The inner surfaces have two or more horizontal channels and two or more vertical support struts at spaced intervals along the length of the shoring panel. A plurality of shoring panels are interconnected to form a shoring ring, and a plurality of shoring rings are interconnected to form a shoring structure.

    • Embodiments pertain to a bi-directional testing method and apparatus for use with a pile. One embodiment utilizes a helical pile central shaft divided into two sections. An expandable bi-directional testing apparatus that includes a sacrificial hydraulic jack, such as, for example, an Osterberg Cell®, that can be installed within the central shaft between the two sections. One or more tell tale rods can be attached to the bi-directional testing apparatus. During testing, expansion of the Osterberg Cell® causes the bi-directional testing apparatus to expand, which can result in movement of the one or more tell tale rods. The movement of the tell tale rods can be correlated to the force exerted by the Osterberg Cell® and provide information regarding the status load bearing capacity of the helical pile.
