    • A copper-base alloy with increased melting point above 1000° C., which is resistant or immune to carburization, metal dusting and coking, resistant to oxidation at elevated temperatures. The alloy has the following composition (in weight-%): Al 4-15, Si 0.1-6, Mo 0.5-40, W 0-40, where the total of Mo and W do not exceed 40%, one or more of the group of Rare Earth Metals (REM), such as yttrium, hafnium, zirconium, lanthanum and/or cerium, up to 1.0 weight-% of each element or a total of maximum 3.0 weight-%, Cu balance and normally occurring alloying additions and impurities. A method for the alloy's production, and the alloy's use as construction components in CO-containing atmospheres, ammonia containing atmospheres, and/or hydrocarbon containing atmospheres or solid carbon containing processes, are also disclosed.

    • A method and an apparatus for the manufacture of non-allergy creating objects, especially objects of metal for direct contact with the skin of a human body, for instance jewelery, watches, glasses etc. whereby completely pure metals, especially precious metals like gold, silver, platinum, palladium, rodium etc. are alloyed with optimum pure zinc, copper, aluminum, nickel or chrome, and whereby any and all treatments both in hot and cold stage are made without access of air and without any contact with extraneous substances like salts or acids. Preferably all melting and heating is made under a protective gas. An apparatus for executing the method according to the invention may comprise a movable table (61) for advancing a cold worked object (66) through a heating channel in counter current to a heating gas or a protective gas (70), and in which the heating channel (63) is directly connected to a cooling channel (68) which makes use of the exhaust gases from the heating channel (71, 73) as cooling and protective gas during the cooling operation, whereby the advancing of the object (66) through the cooling channel is made concurrently with the flow of cooling and protective gas.

    • An induction hardening apparatus for inductively heating and quench hardening a crankshaft includes an arrangement of two workstations similarly configured and a robotic device indexing the crankshaft from a first workstation to a second workstation. The induction hardening apparatus is designed with a single induction coil located at the first workstation for the sequential induction heating and quench hardening of the pins of the crankshaft. At the second workstation, a single induction coil is used for the bearing surfaces of the crankshaft. One feature of the present invention is that the induction coils do not contact the surfaces of the crankshaft which are being inductively heated and quench hardened. Crankshaft dimensions and geometry are programmed into servodrive systems which move the corresponding coil in X and Y directions accurately tracing the orbit or path of each pin and each bearing surface. Another feature of the present invention is the use of an offset 180 degree coil which provides improved heating patterns in less time than traditional 90 degree coils.
