    • A mechanism for controlling the positioning and motion of two relatively movable parts, such as a pivoted chair back and a chair seat for aircraft, busses, etc., comprising a slide bar having a lock device for holding it in any adjusted position, the lock device being releasable by a manually actuated control. The lock device includes a one-way override, which enables the slide bar to be moved in response to a force applied by its connection to a seat back when the seat is urged towards upright position. A spring acts on the slide bar to move it and the seat to seatupright position, and a pneumatic cylinder is connected to the slide bar to control its velocity, to avoid slapping the back of the seat''s occupant by the seat back upon actuation of the control for the lock device. Adjustable limit stops are provided to determine the range of movement of the slide bar, and hence of the seat back. The mechanism is entirely mechanical, except for the noted pneumatic cylinder.

The at least two main conductors and the at least one auxiliary conductor are arranged in a spatial arrangement relative to a first reference point in a first space extending parallel to the electrical line system, and the currents flowing in the at least two main conductors and the at least one auxiliary conductor are selected such that a vector sum of the magnetic field components emanating from the at least two main conductors and the at least one auxiliary conductor is substantially equal to zero at the first reference point. The spatial arrangement is defined by a distance between the at least two main conductors and the at least one auxiliary conductor relative to the first reference point and by a spatial distribution of the at least two main conductors and the at least one auxiliary conductor relative to the first reference point.

    • An active filter for filtering the current and optionally improving the power factor of a single-phase overhead contact wire energized locomotive includes an arrangement for collecting the voltage supplied by the overhead contact wire and for distributing voltages to the traction equipment and auxiliary equipment of the locomotive. It also includes two or more forced switching mode bridge circuits connected in series on the alternating current side and fed with respective independent direct current voltages. A control system forces switching of the bridge circuits to produce an alternating current on the single-phase side from different voltage levels resulting from combination of the direct current voltages from the bridge circuits. This current is fed to the collecting and distributing arrangement to compensate the harmonic frequencies generated and optionally the reactive power consumed by the traction equipment and the auxiliary equipment and retransmitted to the overhead contact wire.

    • An external rearview mirror for motor vehicles includes a base mountable on the coachwork of the vehicle. An arm is mounted on the base projecting therefrom and is tiltable about an axis which at least substantially parallels the longitudinal axis of the vehicle so as to be movable from an operating position in which it projects laterally beyond the coachwork to a retracted position. A mirror-head is associated with the arm and means is provided which mounts the mirror-head on the arm for turning movement about an upright axis normal to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, and this means is operative for effecting tilting of the arm about the axis paralleling the longitudinal axis of the vehicle in direction towards the coachwork in response to turning movement of the mirror-head initiated by an impact on the same acting in direction of the longitudinal vehicle axis.
