    • A dual cutter-carrier assembly that includes a rotatable carrier having a front portion, a rear portion, and a center portion, wherein the center portion defines an interior cavity that is adapted to receive a pencil to be sharpened; a first cutter pin mounted on the carrier, wherein the first cutter pin has a front portion having an annular groove formed therein; a first cutter rotatably and slidably mounted on the first cutter pin; a second cutter pin mounted on the carrier, wherein the second cutter pin has a front portion having an annular groove formed therein; a second cutter rotatably and slidably mounted on the second cutter pin; a contact plate mounted within the interior cavity at the rear portion of the carrier, having a first yoke mechanically coupled to the first cutter and a second yoke mechanically coupled to the second cutter, wherein the contact plate moves in the direction of a pencil that is being sharpened when the tip of the advancing pencil touches the contact plate, wherein the first and second yokes move the first and second cutters respectively in the same direction as the moving contact plate; and wherein, as the pencil advances to a predetermined distance through the interior cavity, the first and second cutters are adapted to move outward from the interior cavity and away from the tip of the pencil being sharpened.

    • An electric pencil sharpener includes a frame, a first motor, a first transmission mechanism driven by the first motor, and a continuing feeding mechanism. The feeding mechanism includes a roller, a feeding wheel rotatably mounted to the frame and driven by the first transmission mechanism, and a driving assembly. An end of the driving assembly is driven by the first transmission mechanism, and the other end of the driving assembly is connected to the roller. The roller defines a groove in a bottom thereof, for pencils falling through. The feeding wheel defines a plurality of receiving slots each for receiving a pencil. The roller is driven by the driving assembly to swing, when the groove of the roller aligns with one of the receiving slots of the roller. Thus, a pencil falls into the receiving slot.

    • A pencil sharpener includes a frame, a drive mechanism, a transmission mechanism, a cutting mechanism, and a pencil-core adjustment mechanism. The pencil-core adjustment mechanism is constituted of a core stopper shaft, an elastic body, and a core adjustment switch constituted of electrode plates aligned in parallel. A pencil inserted into the cutting mechanism presses against and turns ON a switch provided in the drive mechanism to transmit power from the electric power supply unit to the drive device, thereby operating the cutting mechanism via the transmission mechanism to sharpen the pencil. When the pencil is pressed against the upper end of the core stopper shaft, a disk of the core stopper shaft contacts and pushes down one end of the longer electrode plate to separate the projection of the longer electrode plate from the shorter electrode plate, thereby turning OFF the core adjustment switch.

    • An electric sharpener has a casing, an electric motor, and a flat cutting blade for turning by the motor. There is an aperture in the casing through which a pencil can be inserted for sharpening by the cutting blade. An activation sensor is included for detecting when a pencil has been inserted through the aperture to close the electrical circuit, and a deactivation sensor for detecting a sharpened tip of the pencil to open the electrical circuit, thereby stopping the motor. The deactivation sensor has an actuating part for engagement and movement by the tip and a contact part supported by the actuating part for concurrent movement to break electrical contact with a fixed contact in the electrical circuit.
