摘要： The booklet comprises a number of sheets between a cover, and each sheet has a front side and a rear side. At least one data page is provided that is joined to the cover in a fixed manner. The data page comprises a flexible layer and this flexible layer projects with an area out of a data carrier. On this area, the data page is joined to the cover and to the remaining sheets. The flexible layer is flatly joined to at least one other layer, for example, by welding or bonding and is thus inseparably bound without a mechanical joining part.

摘要： A document finisher includes a printing station for printing on the binding of a book. The printing station in one embodiment prints on the binder tape before the book is bound. In a second embodiment, the printer prints on the binding after the book is bound. The printing stations are space efficient and designed to be easily incorporated with preexisting stations in document finishers. Ink jet printers and impact-type printer may be utilized.

摘要： A paperback book is disclosed which has a book block with a plurality of sheets joined together at their spine edges. The book also has a stiff cover. A flattened woven tubular ribbon preferably of polyester fibers having interwoven warp yarns and filling yarn which provide interstices for reception of adhesive. The ribbon has first and second longitudinal sections, and is fastened by a first adhesive to the inner spine portion of the cover at the first section and fastened by a second adhesive to the back of the book block at the second section. The book so formed has a book block which is fully attached to the spine of the cover yet which is fully free to flex. The high strength of the plastic fibers and the flexibility of the tubular woven ribbon contribute to a sturdy book binding which allows the pages of the opened book to lie flat.

摘要： A resilient adhesive resin tab adapted to permanently secure paper sheets thereto by edge-binding in a hot melt condition is, at one extreme side peripheral area thereof, bonded or heat-sealed to a width-adjustable backbone of a bookbinding cloth. The adhesive tab may be split, before use, along a selective one of a plurality of equally spaced, lengthwise extending slit rows, to adjust the width in conformity with a thickness of the paper sheets to be edge-bound. One of side extensions formed integrally with the backbone is larger than the other which improves applicability of this bookbinding cloth to bookbinding into a variable thick booklet by folding back the extended portion of the larger side extension in dependence upon the adjusted width of the backbone. The folded end is bonded to the larger side extension by adhesive.

摘要： A strip-like part or cover for edge binding assembled pages to form a book-like assembly, the part consisting of a substrate such as paper bearing three stripe-like formations of heat activated adhesive on one side thereof. The central adhesive stripe is substantially thicker than the other two stripes, and extends along the substrate axis with a width approximately equal to the overall thickness of the book to be bound. The remaining adhesive stripes, which flank the central stripe are preferably comprised of adhesive having a relatively high tack when heated while the adhesive comprising the center stripe has a relatively low tack when heated to facilitate application of the binding stripe. As an alternate, the flanking stripes may be comprised of a pressure sensitive adhesive.

A gauze strip is fed into a cutting tool from a supply roll by means of a pair of feed rollers and cut into strips of the desired width. The strips are consecutively pressed onto an inclined conveyor which brings then into contact with the backs of the moving books.
