摘要： A device for adding controlled amounts of moisture to one or both sides of a copy sheet. The device includes a pair of water jets, a reservoir for storing a quantity of liquid and connected to the water jet, a pair of generally cylindrical, pressure rolls, each having an outer cylindrical surface with the rolls being aligned with respect to one another along their axes so as to define a nip between the outer cylindrical surfaces, and a controller for controlling application of water from the water jets to selected portions of each sheet passing thereunder before each sheet enters the nip formed between the outer cylindrical surfaces. Alternatively, the water jets could apply the liquid to the cylindrical surfaces of the pressure rolls.

摘要： There is disclosed a liquid application system for the printing, copying, imaging, converting, and related industries, and more particularly a liquid applicator means for applying moisture and coatings to cut sheets using a system of rolls and controlling surfaces, speeds, pressures, and directions of rotation of same relative to successive sheets passing through the system. In the use of the method and apparatus herein described, the liquid applied to the sheet is supplied from a reservoir or other liquid supply source to the nip between a smooth, resilient surfaced metering roll and a smoothly finished hydrophilic transfer roll. An abundant supply of liquid is supplied at the nip between the rolls which is metered by pressure contact between the resilient surfaced metering roll and the transfer roll to an exactly controlled film which adheres to the surface of the transfer roll, which rotates into contact with a cut sheet to apply the liquid thereto. A backup roll serves to propel the sheet through a pressure nip formed between the transfer roll surface and the surface of the backup roll. Sheet guides and feed rolls carry the sheets to and away from the pressure nip.

摘要： A printing machine spray device for moistening surfaces of cylinders, rolls, rollers which are rotating around a transverse axis of the machine and/or for moistening the material being printed which is moving in the longitudinal direction of the machine. The liquid is sprayed by two sprayers onto the surface to be moistened while the two sprayers are being moved in respective opposite directions transversely over the surface. Each sprayer starts from a different respective longitudinal side of the machine. Controls determine the on-off delivery of spray, the speed of sprayer motion, the starting positions of each of the sprayers and may adjust these for machine parameters. Automatic dosing of a specific quantity during one spraying is provided. The input to a sprayer may be from one of selected sources.
