摘要： The method for forming a polygonal container from a blank comprises placing the blank over a polygonal cone having the same number of sides as the side walls of the polygon to be formed. The blank is inverted during placement over the cone so that the upper edges of the container side walls engage the sides of the cone and so that the bottom closure portion of the container is presented upwardly. The bottom closure is folded inwardly along preformed folding lines into a configuration comprising a plurality of triangular bottom panels equal in number to the side panels and a plurality of interconnecting webs each extending between a pair of adjacent bottom panels. Each bottom panel is hingedly connected to one of the side panels and is inclined upwardly from the lower edge of the side panel to which it is connected to form an acute angle therewith. Each bottom panel has two side edges which abut adjacent side edges of adjacent bottom panels, and having side webs on either side thereof hingedly connecting the bottom panel to an adjacent bottom panel. When the container is folded, the webs form a plurality of vertically disposed ribs which protrude downwardly from the bottom closure and which are arranged in a spoke like configuration. These ribs are fastened together at the center of the spoke like configuration with a clip which retentively engages the ribs.

摘要： Apparatus for producing a folded tubular box from a box blank is provided with power driven means for adjusting the folding elements to operate on different size box panels. As the tubular boxes are produced, they are underfed into a stack and periodically a pile of boxes at the top of the stack is removed. While the boxes are in the stack, a hold-down means provides a downward force on the glue joint region connecting the inwardly folded panels of the box. A cable system interconnects the holddown means with the power driven means for adjusting the folding sections so that as the apparatus is adjusted for different size boxes, the hold-down means is automatically positioned to apply a downward pressure at the joint region.

摘要： A plastic container is provided having a sidewall, a downwardly extending upper lip, and a perforated line defined at a top edge of the container where the lip and sidewall are joined. The sidewall and lip may be formed from a container body constructed of a single sheet of material that is wrapped such that marginal edge portions of the blank are brought together in overlapping fashion to form a side seam. When the sidewall and lip are formed from such a blank of material, the perforated line is formed a specified distance below a top edge of such blank. The perforated line reduces the amount of force, heat and lubricant required in order to form (e.g., curl, roll, fold or bend) the upper lip of the container. The slits of the perforated line may extend across a width of the blank in either a uniform or variable fashion.

摘要： A corrugated box making machine has a vacuum transfer mechanism for moving corrugated boards along a path of conveyance including stations having printing and die cutter mechanisms which operate on the boards. The printing mechanisms include a print and impression cylinder, the latter being mounted in a vacuum housing that also holds drive rolls for moving the boards along the path during which the boards are held against the rolls by vacuum in the housing. The latter is movable substantially above the print cylinder to provide convenient access for maintenance of the print cylinder or replacement of its printing plates.
