    • A mechanical press drive that uses a ballscrew apparatus to move the upper platen of a press upward and downward. A first coupling is connected to a screw of the ballscrew apparatus and connects the screw to one of a movable platen of a press or a stationary member of the press. A second coupling is connected to and couples a nut of the ballscrew apparatus to the other of the platen and the stationary member of the press. A drive motor is operably connected to one of the nut and screw and relatively rotates them to impart reciprocal motion to a movable press platen coupled to the other of the nut and screw. The two couplings cooperatively isolate the ballscrew apparatus from offset and moment loading that may occur during press operation.

    • A drive arrangement for a hemming press uses a ballscrew drive arrangement with a longitudinal axis. A first gimbal connected to the externally threaded screw shaft connects the externally threaded screw shaft to a stationary member. The platen is movable with respect to the stationary member. Severe forces resulting from crashes are accommodated by force limiting arrangements and resilient devices.

    • A system for minimizing platen drive shaft flex in a thermoforming press employed in a thermoforming process is provided. The thermoformer press molds plastic sheets into finished articles. The system minimizes rotational vibrations in a platen drive shaft that actuates the thermal press. Reenforcing plates, or doubler plates, are added as auxiliary frame members, to reduce flex in the platen drive shaft. The doubler plates support the drive shaft along the length of the shaft. The doubler plates include bearings positioned proximate to linkages. The linkages interconnect the drive shaft and the platens. The doubler plates are preferably positioned proximate to the linkages, on the drive shaft and opposite frame bearings. The system can include yoked pivots to support both sides of bearings in the linkages between the drive shaft and the platen. The yoked supports evenly transmit forces between the platen drive shaft to the platens. Preferably, the system minimizing platen drive shaft flex is free of counterbalancing elements in the linkages between the drive shaft and the platens.

    • The concept of the nullJ-Extractornull is that of a newly designed utensil for extracting water or oil from tuna. The nullJ-Extractornull would be a hand-held straining device specifically designed to remove excess water and/or oil from tuna. The device would consist of a strainer pan with incorporated drain holes and a twist-lock lid with an attached turn handle and pressing plate. The contents of a can of tuna would be placed into the pan and the lid attached, with the user then turning the device's top-mounted handle to lower the internal press plate and extract water/oil from the tuna. The use of the nullJ-Extractornull would allow the user to remove excess water and/or oil from tuna in a quick and efficient manner, eliminating the possibility of spilling the liquids onto the hands or a countertop. The device would be extremely easy to use and could be washed either by a dishwasher or by hand.
