    • A bran removing wire-mesh tube includes: bran removing wire-mesh tube parts 28 divided in more than one in a circumferential direction in planar view; and a plurality of support pillars 33 erected at intervals in the circumferential direction to respectively fix both side edges of the divided bran removing wire-mesh tube parts 28. Further, the resistor 34 is provided so as to be movable in a radial direction to a position farther from the grain cleaning chamber 30 due to resistance from the grains.

    • An apparatus and method for removing hulls from milo berries is provided. The apparatus includes a first cylindrical shaped chamber having a plurality of abrasive grinding stones mounted on a shaft extending through the chamber. The outlet to the first chamber is connected by a suitable conduit to the inlet of a second, cylindrical shaped chamber having a plurality of wire brushes mounted on a rotor extending through the chamber. An aspiration system connected to the chambers removes hull particles that have been separated from the milo berries. As the milo berries sequentially pass through the chambers, the stones and brushes remove the hulls from the berries.

    • A vertical milling machine comprises a first milling part and a second milling part situated under the first milling part, the first and second milling parts having a common main shaft extending vertically. The first milling part has a supply part of grain on an upper end side thereof and a discharge pare of grain having been milled in the first milling part on a lower end side thereof. The second milling part has a supply part of grain to be milled in the second milling part on a lower end side thereof and a discharge part of grain having been milled in the second milling part on an upper end side thereof. The grain discharge part of the first milling part is communicated with the grain supply part of the second milling part through a grain transfer passage extending therebetween. Thus, degree of milling (degree of whitening) in the first and second milling parts can be adjusted individually without difficulty by provision of resistance means individually with respect to the discharge parts of the first and second milling parts.
