摘要： An apparatus (10) for forming multi-filament tufts for use in a brush seal includes a support (14) for retaining an end of a skein (16) of aligned wires or fibers and a glue reservoir (15) dimensioned to receive the skein end. The support (14) and the reservoir (15) being relatively movable whereby the end can be inserted in the glue reservoir (15) so that the adhesive can adhere the wires or fibers at the end to form the tuft. A cutter (13) is also provided for cutting the wires or fibers to length after the wires and fibers are retained by the support (14).

摘要： This invention refers to a device for selective separation of toothbrush bristles that allows the toothbrush bristles to be cut into different lengths and profiles in different selected areas. According to this invention, the device ;for selective separation of toothbrush bristles comprises a base with fixation means for a toothbrush having bristles, and a support assembled over the base, wherein the support comprises a pair of simetrically pivoting stems over a first geometric plane, the support being displaceable over a portion of the base along a geometric axle that is parallel to the first geometric plane, from a resting position to a position of contact between the stems and the bristles and a cam means cooperating with the respective portions of the stems, during at least part of the displacement of the support over the base, in order to cause the symmetrically pivoting movement of the stems. Additionally, this invention refers to a device for selective cutting of toothbrush bristles comprising the above mentioned device for selective separation.

摘要： A process for the manufacture of bristle products, from multifilament bristle strands wound in the form of endless material onto reels. The bristle strands, after unwinding, are supplied to a processing station, where they are fixed to a bristle carrier either in continuous or cut to size form. The removal from the spools takes place by a holding or tensile force acting in timed manner on the bristle strands at the processing station. In order to eliminate the non-uniform lengths of the individual monofilaments due to manufacture or processing and which lead to loop formation during processing, at least during the holding cycles acting on the processing station, a tensile force directed counter to the holding force acts on all the bristle strands. This tensile force is set in such a way that the bristle strands and, preferably, also all the monofilaments within a bristle strand are stretched between the spools and the processing station.

The products comprise a bristle carrier and bristles whose utilization-side ends are substantially unformly rounded and located in a contour differing from that of the bristle side surface of the bristle carrier. The opposite ends of the bristles are fastened to the bristle side surface of the bristle carrier. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the process comprises the steps of: clamping the bristles while their utilization-side ends are in a flat plane; substantially uniformly rounding the utilization-side ends of the bristles while they are clamped in the flat plane; loosening the clamp restraining the bristles and thereafter axially displacing the utilization-side ends of the bristles relative to one another to produce the desired contour; and fastening the opposite ends of the bristles to the bristle carrier.

摘要： A toothbrush finishing machine and method are provided for producing toothbrushes with profiled, or contoured, patterns of bristle tufts. The bristles are selectively trimmed to different lengths using successively a plurality of different rotating cutting devices which each have a substantially cylindrical cutting surface with an axial gap therein. The axial gap of each preceding cutting device is wider than the corresponding axial gap of a succeeding axial device. Each rotating cutting device is followed by a rounding device provided for rounding the free end of the bristles. Each rounding device has deflecting members to selectively deflect bristles other than those trimmed in the preceding trimming step, so that the trimmed bristles have their ends projecting beyond the deflected bristles. The projecting bristle ends are engaged by the rounding device to be rounded.
