    • The aqua boot for horses is a device which is designed for rehydration of a horses hoof in order to prevent excessive dryness and cracking of the hoof. The boot is a structured sponge or plastic foam wrap having an inside shoulder for attaching to and conforming to a dehydrated hoof of a horse. The boot is a layer of absorbent foam or sponge material having apertures, adhered to a rubber or vinyl backing material with mating strips of hook and loop fastening material attached to opposite ends of the sponge or foam so that the boot may be wrapped around the horse's hoof. The foam or sponge layer is soaked in water, ice or other moisturizing liquid, lotion, or gel, and wrapped about the hoof with the sponge layer in contact with the hoof.

    • A horseshoe includes a thin, resilient member, embedded in a moldable material such as plastic or composite. Due to this dual construction, the horseshoe is strong yet light in weight. The moldable material has a thickness which varies across the horseshoe, so as to define a cavity in the space between the shoe and the horse's hoof. A channel, formed in the moldable material, provides access to the cavity, which can be filled with a medicated material after the shoe has been attached to the hoof. In an alternative embodiment, a source of current can be connected across the ends of the resilient member, causing the resilient member to function as a resistance heater, which can melt an adhesive used to attach the shoe to the hoof.

    • The invention relates to a hoof guard for hooves of equestrian animals, especially for horse hooves, comprising a horseshoe-shaped base body (1), which has a walking side (11) and a hoof application side (10). The hoof guard also comprises at least two lifting devices (18), which can be displaced in or on the base body (1) and which can be fixed to the base body (1). Each lifting device consists of a sliding part (23), which is mounted in or on the base body (1) inside a depression or recess, and of a stop part (24), which projects away from the walking side while extending in an essentially perpendicular manner to the sliding part (23), and which rests against the hoof. According to the invention, the sliding part (23) and the depression or recess (3, 4) of the base body (1) are each provided with at least one complementary profile (20, 21, 30, 31), which extends in the direction of displacement (19) of the sliding part (23) and which is provided for forming a slideway for the sliding part (23) in or on the base body (1) whereby enabling a simple adaptation to hooves of different shapes.

    • A device for elevating a horse hoof to encourage the horse to lift the opposite hoof for shoeing. The device includes primarily a sock configured to be releasably mounted on a horse hoof and at least one riser secured to the sock for elevating the horse hoof. The sock is fabricated of a pliable material and is configured to conform to the hoof of the horse when attached. An opening is provided in the rear of the sock to enable mounting and dismounting of the sock on the hoof. A fastening device is carried by the sock to secure the sock to the hoof to prevent unselected removal. The sock is carried by a primary riser. The primary riser is comprised of a plurality of riser pads stacked one on top of another. The riser pads are secured to each other in a conventional manner. A horseshoe is mounted on the bottom surface of the primary riser in order to enhance the durability of the bottom riser pad. A crease is defined on the bottom surface of the horseshoe to provide traction for the horse and to prevent wear of the primary riser. In order to further elevate the horse, a secondary riser is provided. The secondary riser is constructed in much the same manner as the primary riser. However, the secondary riser may define an overall height different than the primary riser. A through opening is defined by the secondary riser to receive a bolt. The primary riser defines a threaded bolt receptor for receiving the distal end of a bolt.
