    • A spherical food storage container with a lid for adding foods, or for extracting food is provided. The spherical food storage container can be stored as two or more pieces that may be assembled to form a spherical container for holding food, while providing a lid in a portion of one of the hemispheres for the addition of a food, or for extraction of the food. The container and the portions of the container are made of food grade plastic that is dishwasher safe. The food storage container is made from paper, cardboard, poly-vinyl chloride (PVC), plastic, ceramic, metal, wood, fiber glass, a glass reinforced plastic, or combinations thereof. In at least one embodiment, the container and the portions of the container are made of food grade plastic that is dishwasher safe.

    • The present invention relates to a one-piece food container with an integral hinge and one or more latching mechanism, a full perimeter seal, and ribbed or ridged support structures. The food container is fabricated from hybrid bio-based and polymeric a material that has heat resistance capabilities. In particular, the present apparatus and method utilize a hybrid slurry of simple, abundant and renewable materials, such as food or plant starch and calcium carbonate (limestone), and a polymeric material, that uses high temperature and high pressure presses. An optional coating, such as wax, is applied to the surface of the food container. The present invention one-piece food container has a plurality of ridges that are incorporated into the container to provide rigidity and resisting folding or bending. Lastly, the one-piece food container with has enough rigidity and strength to be stackable for efficient storage for distribution to a user. The resulting one-piece food container is strong, light, heat-resistant, and attractive.

    • An edible, biodegradable container that includes an edible or biodegradable sealant preventing liquids or moisture from foods or beverages stored therein from being absorbed into the container is disclosed. The sealant allows the edible container to contain liquids, even when the liquids are stored for extended periods of time within the container. The sealant may be applied to the interior of the container only, or may be applied to the entire container. The edible container may be configured in any size and shape to hold a plurality of different foods or beverages such as cups, mugs, shot glasses, bowls, or bottles. The edible container may be formed with high side walls, allowing it to hold a beverage and used like a traditional drinking cup or mug. The edible container is configured to be eaten during or after consumption of the food or liquid stored therein.

    • Disclosed are microwave popcorn articles including a thickened liquid (at room temperature) oil and their methods of preparation. The microwave popcorn articles comprise any conventional microwave popcorn bag or container, and a food charge disposed therein comprising kernel popcorn and/or puffable pellets; 1% to 45% liquid (at room temperature) oil; and, 0% to 4% salt. The oil ingredient has a melting point of ≦25° C. The oil ingredient includes an oil thickening ingredient especially a starch based oil thickening ingredient such as a cyclodextrin in amounts sufficient to dimensionally stabilize the oil. By avoiding hydrogenation to solidify the oil into a solid fat at room temperatures, finished popcorn products can be provided that are desirably low in trans fatty acid content. The methods of preparation include preparing a heated oil thickened with cyclodextrin complexed with the oil and adding the thickened oil to the microwave container.
