摘要： Systems and methods are provided for enabling H-ARQ communication between a base station and one or more wireless terminals. Methods for enabling incremental redundancy (IR) based H-ARQ, Chase based H-ARQ and Space-Time Code combining (STC) based H-ARQ between devices for down-link and up-link direction transmissions are provided in the form of an information element (IE) for use with a Normal MAP convention as currently accepted in the draft version standard of IEEE 802.16. In addition, embodiments of the invention provide a resource management scheme to protect a network from abuse of resources from a wireless terminal not registered with the network. Components of the down-link and up-link mapping components of a data frame transmitted from the base station to one or more wireless terminals included messages that are readable by all wireless terminals as well as some messages that are encrypted and only readable by wireless terminals that are authenticated as being registered with the network.

The data input unit receives MAC-ehs PDU data. The PDU data managing unit determines addresses in a storage unit, generates an expansion table, and stores the MAC-ehs PDU data. The re-transmission controlling unit determines that an expected PDU segment is a PDU segment including a sequence number immediately following a last one of sequence numbers of consecutive PDU segments, judges whether a sequence number of a received PDU segment coincides with the sequence number of the expected PDU segment, makes a re-transmission request, and issues a notification indicating that a predetermined time length has elapsed or PDU segments have reached a predetermined size. The pre-deciphering processing unit obtains the PDU segments from the storage unit and completes a MAC-ehs SDU from the obtained PDU segments.

摘要： A multiple mode, personal, wireless communications system exists within a radiotelephone network serving general customers and provides additional services to a select group of customers. The system uses handsets which automatically switch between a standard cellular radiotelephone mode of operation and an enhanced cordless mode when the handsets are within range of pico cells that are interconnected to the public switched telephone network. Each pico cell is controlled via a framework of overlay cells that operates independently of the radiotelephone network and uses a unique control protocol on a small number of reserved cellular channels. Each pico cell consists of a spectrally dynamic, non-capturing, frequency agile, multi-purpose base station provided at customer-selected locations to cooperate with the overlay cell framework. Each pico cell is capable of supporting multiple handsets and uses low power operation that achieves limited coverage. Each pico cell reduces traffic on the standard cellular radiotelephone network by independently handling registered handsets. An alternate line option module provides wireless local interconnect capability to selectively route call traffic between land lines and the standard cellular radiotelephone network. Service control units and host stations facilitate wireless activation and control of each pico cell and handset via the overlay cell framework.
