摘要： A voice bus on a computer backplane provides point-to-point connection between a plurality of slots on the backplane to a particular slot. Connection from the plurality of slots is provided by third connectors which lie between first and second connectors defining the slots. Connection to the particular slot is via its respective second connector. In particular, the computer backplane is physically and electrically compatible with the IEEE standard 1014-1987 defining the VMEbus. The presence of the third connector is compatible with the VMEbus standard both electrically and physically.

A second end of the first arm connects to a first end of the second arm. The Smart Phone is thus the central intelligence for the system, which may utilize a PBX connected in a LAN network to multiple computers, including file servers, and each computer may have one or more Smart Phones connected. In one embodiment, docking bays in the phone provide an ability to interchange functional modules, including DSP modules. The docking bays and functional modules may be configured to PCMCIA standards. In another embodiment, a docking bay, which may also be PCMCIA, has a physical window allowing access to an input area on a docked module, wherein the docked module is an intelligent module with a CPU, memory, and a bus structure, affording control of the smart phone and the entire system through the input interface of the docked module.

摘要： A switch for selecting, from among a plurality of devices, a device to be coupled to a data line, such as an ISDN line. The switch includes a data line receiver coupled to a data line interrogator and switch controller. The switch further includes a device identifier coupled to both the data line receiver and the data line interrogator and switch controller, and a plurality of buffers which can be enabled by the device identifier, thus coupling a device, connected to one of such buffers, with the data line, also connected to such buffers. Information received by the data line receiver is passed to the data line interrogator and switch controller for evaluation to determine whether such information is device identification information. If such information is device identification information, the device interrogator and switch controller signals the device identifier to examine the data and enable the appropriate buffer associated with the device identified by such information so that the identified device can be operatively coupled to the data line. The switch also provides the required control logic to enable a device to be coupled to the data line for transmission of information thereon.
