    • A temperature-dependent switch having a temperature-dependent switching mechanism and a housing on which first and second stationary contacts are arranged. The temperature-dependent switching mechanism is configured to switch in a temperature-dependent manner between a closed state, in which the switching mechanism establishes an electrically conductive connection between the first and second stationary contacts, and an open state, in which the switching mechanism disconnects the electrically conductive connection. The switching mechanism comprises a carrier body, a spring element, a bimetallic element and a current transfer member. The current transfer member is connected to the bimetallic element by a connecting element other than the carrier body. In the closed state, the current transfer member is pressed against the first and second stationary contacts in order to establish the electrically conductive connection, and in the open state it is lifted off the first and second stationary contacts in order to disconnect the electrically conductive connection.

    • An electric current responsive circuit breaker device includes a housing formed from electrically insulating material and the housing has an internal compartment and an open end. The circuit breaker further includes a thermostatic snap-action blade and first and second electrically conductive contacts such that the first contact has a stationary position disposed within the internal compartment and the second contact is disposed on the thermostatic snap-action blade. Further, the first and second contacts are coupled such that electric current flows through the contacts when the temperature of the thermostatic snap-action blade is below a threshold level, and the thermostatic snap-action blade bends to uncouple the second contact from the first contact when the temperature of the thermostatic snap-action blade is at or above the threshold level so that electric current does not flow through the first and second contacts after the first and second contacts are uncoupled. The circuit breaker device further includes a flexible gasket and a cover interconnectedly arranged with the open end of the housing such that the flexible gasket is arranged between the cover and the housing, and the gasket has a throughhole disposed on an interior portion thereof.

    • A thermal protection circuit has two electrical connection terminals for a device to be protected, and a temperature-dependent switch. The switch is provided with a temperature-dependent switching mechanism, two stationary contacts which are connected to the connection terminals, and a current transfer element, which is arranged on the switching mechanism. The current transfer element is moved by the switching mechanism and comprises two counter contacts, which are electrically connected to one another and in temperature-dependent bearing contact with the two stationary contacts. The thermal protection circuit is provided with a controllable semiconductor valve for AC voltage having two current terminals and a control input. Each of the two current terminals is connected to one of the connection terminals, and the control input is electrically connected to the counter contacts at the current transfer element via the switching mechanism at least when the temperature-dependent switch is closed.

    • A thermal protector (70, 70') is shown particularly suitable as a safety back-up mechanism for appliances having electrically energizable resistance heaters. The thermal protector has first (72, 72') and second (74, 74') electrically conductive housing members joined together through an electrically insulating gasket (76). A thermostatic snap acting disc (86) is cantilever mounted on one of the housing members and adapted to move between positions in and out of electrical engagement with the other housing member in dependence upon temperature. The snap acting disc (86) has an actuation temperature selected from approximately 70.degree. C. to 175.degree. C. and, for non-resettable applications, a reset temperature of -35.degree. C. A terminal platform (100, 100') is provided on one housing member extending lengthwise beyond the other housing member and essentially along the entire width of the protector so that a relatively rigid heater element terminal pin (32) can be placed transversely, generally parallel to the end of the protector and welded thereto to provide improved heat transfer as well as a rigid mount for the protector. The welding platform is shown provided with a stop tab member (102) to aid in positioning the terminal pin (32) at the time of welding.
