摘要： A system and method to assist in the prevention of the transfer of infectious diseases. More particularly, a system and method that monitors and alerts caregivers to cleanse, sanitize, and/or wash their hands prior to engaging with other individuals in their care. The disclosed technology includes beacons in wireless communication with a mobile computing device, such as a smart phone, that monitors, alerts and reports on compliance by caregivers and other healthcare workers to ensure that they routinely cleanse, sanitize and/or wash their hands prior to and after contacting a patient at a hospital, nursing home, clinic, office and/or similar environment. The beacons are located in a patient's wristband and in a disinfectant dispenser. The disclosed technology can monitor the patient at all times the patient is in the healthcare facility.

For example, one embodiment of the present invention includes a method having the steps of receiving a first wrapping signal indicating a first wrapping of the simulated thread around a second tool to create a first loop. The method further includes determining a first wrapping direction based at least in part on the first wrapping signal; receiving a first tightening signal indicating a pulling of a first end of the simulated thread through the first loop; determining a first half-hitch based at least in part on the first winding direction and the first tightening signal; and outputting the first half-hitch. In another embodiment, a computer-readable media includes code for a carrying out such a method.

摘要： Disclosed herein is an improved eyelid care appliance and method of using such appliance for preventing and treating blepharitis and mammalian meibomian gland dysfunction caused by gland obstruction. The method and apparatus of the invention enable restoration and maintenance of eyelid hygiene and the natural flow of secretions from the meibomian glands. A preferred embodiment of the apparatus comprises an oscillating spongehead affixed to the distal end of the eyelid care appliance that is equipped with a video camera, near field communications link, and a display, thereby enabling a user to “fly” the spongehead onto an eyelid margin for self-administered cleaning of the user's eyelid margins. The spongehead can be impregnated with topical pharmacologic or cleansing agents to better facilitate cleaning and therapeutic efficacy.

摘要： Disclosed is a toilet training aid for children. The device comprises a doll having a microphone, a sound recognition processing module, a memory, and a speaker imbedded therein. The sound recognition processing module is adapted to detect a clapping sound or a flushing sound. When either of the clapping sound or the flushing sound is detected through the microphone, a pre-recorded message recording is played through the speaker. The pre-recorded message recording verbally encourages the child and rewards the child for a successful completion of a toilet training experience. In one embodiment, the doll may resemble a princess, and in another embodiment, the doll may resemble a pirate. The doll further includes a clip that may be used to mount the doll onto a toilet tank or on a doll stand.
