    • The present disclosure provides methods and apparatuses for providing an audible feedback based on a proximity or a link quality between an external reader and a tag. The external reader transmits power to the tag with a radio frequency electromagnetic signal. The tag may rectify the radio frequency electromagnetic signal and create a rectified voltage. This rectified voltage may be used to power various components of the tag. Once it receives power from the reader, the tag may communicate information back to the external reader. The information communicated back to the reader is communicated by modulating an antenna impedance of the tag. By modulating the impedance, the tag will backscatter radiation transmitted by the reader. The reader is able to create an audio output based on determining the proximity or link quality from the reader to the tag based on the backscatter radiation it receives from the tag.

    • Systems and methods are provided for enhancing a signal for load modulation from reading a smartcard. According to such methods, an antenna signal is generated by transceiver circuitry. An antenna signal field associated with the antenna signal can be transmitted. A reference signal that is substantially constant in amplitude and phase and substantially in phase with a carrier frequency of the antenna signal can be generated. A modulated antenna signal can be received. The modulated antenna signal can include the antenna signal that has been modulated as a result of the presence of a smartcard within the antenna signal field. The reference signal can be subtracted from the modulated antenna signal to produce a resultant signal. The resultant signal may be provided to receiving circuitry of the transceiver circuitry.

    • Systems and methods providing a transmitter for transmitting signals in a near-field communication (NFC) frequency band are disclosed. According to embodiments, a transmitter for transmitting signals in a near-field communication frequency band comprises an antenna, a first current source for generating a first current to excite the antenna, a first detector for detecting a first voltage at an output of the first current source, and means for reducing the current output by the first current source if the detected first voltage exceeds a first predefined threshold. An integrated circuit of embodiments may comprise the foregoing transmitter. A transmitter configuration of embodiments, including means for reducing the current, provides for limited distortion in the transmitted signal and reducing the risk of components in the transmitter being damaged.
